Wyoming Seminary walked it off on Hanover Area to wrap up a wild final inning in a 10-9 win over the Hawkeyes on Friday in Wyoming Valley Conference baseball action.
The Blue Knights led 9-1 heading to the top of the seventh inning, but Hanover stormed back with eight runs to tie the game 9-9. Seminary was able to push the game-winning run across in the home half of the seventh to pick up the victory.
Hayden Vought hit a home run for Sem, and Leo Nockley had two doubles. Shaun Behrens drove in three runs for Sem.
Nick Schiel drove in three runs on three hits from the leadoff spot for Hanover Area.
SOFTBALL
Lake-Lehman 16, Wyoming Seminary 0
Hannah Chipego fired three perfect innings and Lake-Lehman’s offense went off in a mercy-rule win.
Chipego struck out six of the nine batters she faced to earn the win. She also had three hits and scored three times. Kristen Finarelli came up a single short of the cycle, driving in five runs and scoring six times.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Crestwood 9, Emmaus 6
The Comets held off District 11’s Emmaus to pick up the win and improve to 4-1 on the year.
Gia Caporuscio led Crestwood with five goals. Hannah Ziegler, Lucy Malia, Ella Novelli and Kate Gallagher each added a goal.
Wyoming Seminary 20, Tunkhannock 6
Abby Williams and Ellie Kersey scored four goals apiece to lead Wyoming Seminary past Tunkhannock. Kylie Romanchick and Sienna Popple each added three goals for the Blue Knights.
Aliyah Staff led the Tigers with two goals. Paige Adams had a goal and two assists.
Lake-Lehman 16, Midd-West 4
The Lehman offense overpowered District 4’s Midd-West on their way to a win on Friday.
Olivia Corcoran led the Black Knights with four goals. Finley Norconk and Sara Womach had three goals each.
BOYS TENNIS
Wilkes-Barre Area 3, Pittston Area 2
Harold Stella’s straight sets win was the deciding factor as the Wolfpack picked up their first victory of the season.
After dropping the first two singles matches, Stella helped Wilkes-Barre get on the board. The Wolfpack won the two doubles points by forfeit, locking up the win.
Tanner Osborn and Zhi Lin won in singles for Pittston Area.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Wilkes-Barre Area 3, Lake-Lehman 0
The Wolfpack improved to 5-0 in league play with a straight sets victory over Lake-Lehman. Set scores were 25-7, 25-10 and 25-14 all in favor of Wilkes-Barre Area.
Jordany Rodriguez had eight kills and six aces, while Reylie Ramirez had seven kills.
Berwick 3, Tunkhannock 1
After splitting the first two sets, Berwick regrouped to win the final two and clinch the match. The Bulldogs won the first set 25-15, only for Tunkhannock to even the match with a 25-19 win in the second.
Berwick won the next two sets 25-14 and 25-19 to seal the match. Carlos Guzman had 15 kills and 10 digs for Berwick, and Brock Seely had 12 kills and 19 digs.
Zachary MacBain led Tunkhannock with 12 kills.

TRACK AND FIELD
Two new King’s records
Katey Shoemaker and Victoria Zultevicz each set new outdoor program records for King’s in the second day of the River Hawk Multi and Invitational.
Shoemaker won the hammer throw event with a top throw of 52.07 meters, shattering the existing King’s record of 49.31 meters. Zultevicz took second in the heptathlon but beat her own program record with a final score of 3,739 points.
