The Crestwood girls lacrosse team passed a tough test to stay undefeated in WVC play, heading on the road and beating Wyoming Area 13-7 on Thursday afternoon.

Jackie Gallagher had five goals to lead the Comets, who improved to 10-0 in league competition with the win. Gia Caporuscio added four goals and two assists.

Lyla Rehill scored four goals to lead Wyoming Area.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Nanticoke Area 3, Tunkhannock 2

The Trojans managed to hang on and quell a Tunkhannock rally, beating the Tigers in five sets.

Nanticoke Area won the first two sets 25-22 and 25-18, but Tunkhannock was able to tie the match up at two sets apiece with 25-22 and 25-23 victories in the third and fourth sets. A 15-13 win in the fifth set sealed the match for Nanticoke.

Liam Mullery had 14 kills and Jayden Wasielewski had 12 kills in the win. Brady Rushton had 33 assists.

Zachary MacBain had 11 kills and Tyler Shygelski added 11 kills for Tunkhannock.

BOYS TENNIS

Wyoming Seminary 4, Tunkhannock 1

The Blue Knights remained undefeated on the year with a win over Tunkhannock. Sem swept the three singles matches to clinch the win.

Tunkhannock picked up a point with a doubles win from Lucas Mateus and Brandon Mateus.

Wilkes-Barre Area 4, Berwick 1

The Wolfpack swept the three singles matches to lock up a win over Berwick. The duo of Luis Delgado and Rashir Williams added a point with a doubles win for Wilkes-Barre Area.

Isaac Evans and Konin Zoblik won the lone point for Berwick in the second doubles match.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

Wyoming Area 97, Tunkhannock 41

Skyler Pierce picked up three individual wins as the Warriors ran past Tunkhannock. The senior won the 110 and 300 hurdles as well as the high jump.

Gage Speece (100 and 200 meter dashes) and Luke Kopetchny (triple jump and long jump) each won two individual events for Wyoming Area.

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

Wyoming Area 98, Tunkhannock 52

Nina Angeli had a big day in the long-distance events, picking up wins in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs to lead Wyoming Area. She added a third victory as part of the Warriors’ 3200 meter relay team.

Ella McKernan won the 800 run and the 300 hurdles, also running on the team’s first-place 1600 relay team.

Noelle Alguire won four events for Tunkhannock: the 100 and 200 meter dashes, the shot put and the triple jump.

MEN’S GOLF

Wilkes takes 10th

The Colonels shot a combined team score of 331 to take 10th place in the 15-team Conquaer the Island Invitational. Cole Jungwirth was the low scorer for Wilkes, finishing in 28th place with a score of 78.

Moravian took home the team title with a score of 293, while Drew’s Elliot Parker shot a four-under 68 as the top individual finisher.

SOFTBALL

Wilkes sweeps Scranton

The Colonels won both ends of a doubleheader with Scranton in walkoff fashion. In the first game, Wilkes trailed by as many as five runs before a Kayla Burleson base hit scored the winning run.

In the nightcap, Wilkes trailed 1-0 heading to the bottom of the seventh but a two-run double from Mia Butka brought home the tying and winning runs.
