The Wyoming Valley Conference team golf finals have officially been set.
Dallas and Pittston Area will collide for the WVC Class 3A championship, and the Class 2A final will feature Wyoming Seminary and Lake-Lehman after all four schools advanced through Wednesday’s conference team semifinals at Wyoming Valley Country Club.
The WVC team finals will go off with a shotgun start on 9 a.m. Friday at Fox Hill Country Club.
The winner of those championship matches will face a representative from the Lackawanna Conference for the District 2 team championships on Oct. 4 at Fox Hill.
Pittston Area, Dallas set for WVC Class 3A championship
The closest match of the morning ended up with Pittston Area on top, edging out defending conference champ Crestwood by a single stroke, 311-312.
Patrick Ruane led the Patriots with an 18-hole score of 73, the lowest individual score carded by any Class 3A golfer. Noah Gruber shot a 77, Chris Scavo an 80 and Andrew Nocito carded an 81.
Sienna Smith and Tommy Biscotti shot 75 and 76, respectively, for Crestwood.
In the other Class 3A semifinal, Dallas punched their ticket to the team final with a 324-332 victory over Hazleton Area.
Ryan Roman’s 76 led the way for the Mountaineers. Luke Palmieri was the low scorer for Hazleton Area with a 78.
Wyoming Seminary remains unbeaten, headed to Class 2A final
The Blue Knights ran their season record to 14-0, taking down Holy Redeemer 305-341 to reach the Class 2A final.
Jack Werner, the defending individual state champ in Class 2A, led the entire field with a 67. Anna Zapletalova shot a 75, and Ayden Wilkinson and Leo Nockley added scores of 80 and 83, respectively.
Arden Brunn led Holy Redeemer with a 78, while Jack Hurst finished with an 82.
Seminary’s opponent in the team final will be Lake-Lehman, after the Black Knights took down Wyoming Area 304-343.
Lake-Lehman had three golfers under 80: Charlie Weidner at 71, Jackson Norconk with a 74 and AJ Borchert at 78.
Wyoming Area’s Aiden August shot an 84 to finish as the low scorer for the Warriors. Mario Belza was right behind him with an 85.
FIELD HOCKEY
Wyoming Area 6, Abington Heights 0
Lyla Rehill scored a hat trick, and the Warriors defense held firm in a shutout win over Abington Heights.
Jules Gonzales scored twice for Wyoming Area, and Ella McKernan scored once.
Wyoming Valley West 3, Wilkes-Barre Area 0
Goals from Riley Dwyer, Ava Mulery and Addison Marcin led Wyoming Valley West to a win.
Laila Zdancewicz had two assists for the Spartans, while Lily Watchilla had one.
Crestwood 7, Wyoming Seminary 0
Alyse Wanchisen notched a hat trick to lead Crestwood to a victory over Wyoming Seminary.
Ally George and Ava McConnell each scored twice for the Comets.
Sydney Payne made nine saves for Wyoming Seminary.

After falling behind early, Wyoming Area scored three unanswered goals to pick up the victory.
Frankie Pizano, Kendall Day and Ava Musinski all scored for Wyoming Area. Ella Shepulski had an assist.
Kinley Purdy scored the lone goal for Lake-Lehman.

Lake-Lehman 4, Hanover Area 0
Logan Law had a hat trick, and the Black Knights scored three times in the second half to pull away from Hanover Area.
Greyson Diffenbacher had a goal and an assist for Lake-Lehman.
Sam Mathews made six saves for Hanover Area.
Holy Redeemer 6, MMI Prep 1
Ayden Hannigan scored twice, and the Royals scored all six of their goals in the second half to beat MMI Prep.
Conner Zera, Frank Klimovitz, Mateo Runde and Jacob Daywood added a goal each for Holy Redeemer. Joshua Rocha had two assists.
MMI’s lone goal was scored on a penalty kick by Hasan Arain.
GIRLS TENNIS
Wyoming Seminary 4, MMI Prep 1
Wyoming Seminary won two singles matches and swept the doubles points to take down MMI Prep.
Ilana Rosenthal and Elisabeth Moules each won in singles for the Blue Knights.
Ava Genetti picked up the lone point in singles for MMI Prep.
Dallas 3, Hanover Area 2
A sweep of the two doubles points proved the difference-maker in a Dallas win.
The teams of Abby Worth and Lauren Roberts, along with Lena Rogala and Maja Rogala picked up the key points for Dallas. Mahi Dohl added a win in singles.
Santina Saraka and Bathany Saltz won in singles for Hanover Area.
Crestwood 5, Wyoming Valley West 0
The Comets didn’t drop a single set en route to a sweep of Wyoming Valley West.
Hannah Ziegler, Camerone Carlos and Ella Richards picked up singles wins for Crestwood.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Wyoming Area 3, MMI Prep 0
Taylor Gashi had nine kills and seven digs in a Wyoming Area sweep of MMI Prep.
Set scores were 25-14, 25-7 and 25-18 all in favor of the Warriors. Kenzie Galenty had 12 digs, and Kaia Brown had 11 digs and six aces.
Alexa Fazio had five kills and three service points for MMI Prep.
Wilkes-Barre Area 3, Wyoming Valley West 1
Norah Corchado finished with 12 kills and five aces in a four-set victory for Wilkes-Barre Area.
Jaida Underwood had nine kills and three aces for the Wolfpack, while Tatiana Pena added nine kills.
Holy Redeemer 3, Lake-Lehman 1
The Royals won the first two sets, and bounced back to win the fourth after Lake-Lehman won the third set.
Holy Redeemer won the first two sets 25-18 and 26-24. Lake-Lehman won the third set 25-23, but the Royals won the fourth set 25-22 to win the match.
Bella Boylan had 21 kills, and Abby Williams had 16 kills. Anne Carter had 36 assists.
Ella Wilson had 14 kills and seven digs for Lake-Lehman.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Hazleton Area, Crestwood both finish 4-0 in cluster meet
In a seven-team WVC cluster meet, Hazleton Area and Crestwood led the way with identical 4-0 finishes. Both schools picked up wins over Hanover Area, Nanticoke Area, Holy Redeemer and host Wyoming Seminary.
Crestwood’s Mason Staude won the individual meet with a time of 16:13, while Hazleton Area took the second and third spots with Franklin Ritz and Owen Pollock.
Holy Redeemer, Hanover Area and Wyoming Seminary each finished 1-2. Nanticoke Area finished 0-2-1, while MMI Prep finished 0-3-1.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Crestwood runners finish 1-2 in individual race
Katie Kozich and Kaelyn Barker took first and second place, respectively, in a 4-0 day for Crestwood.
Hazleton Area also finished 4-0, with a third-place finish from Milana Daiute leading the Cougars.
MMI Prep finished 2-2 in their head-to-head matchups, led by seventh-place finisher Mary Kate Kupsky. Holy Redeemer, Hanover Area and Wyoming Seminary each finished 1-2, while Nanticoke Area ended the day 0-3.

Taryn Conover’s second-half equalizer helped King’s play to a draw with Rutgers-Newark.
Madison Jellema scored the other goal for the Monarchs.

The Colonels swept the three doubles matches and won four of six singles matches to pick up a win on the road.
Tea Amerise, Isabel Schreffler and Sydney Farmer picked up wins in both doubles and singles for Wilkes.

The Colonels fell behind early and came up short against Oneonta State.
Morgan Hermanofski had a goal and an assist for Wilkes, and Kellie Scott added the other goal for the Colonels. Olivia Wickel had 12 saves.
