Ellie Kersey headed in the only goal of the afternoon in a 1-0 Wyoming Seminary victory over Tunkhannock in a Wyoming Valley Conference girls soccer matchup.
Kersey’s goal came in the first half, and held up as the game-winner.
Piper Robinson made seven saves for Tunkhannock.
BOYS SOCCER
Pittston Area 2, Wyoming Valley West 1
Jacob Ivey scored the game-winner late in the second half to bring home the win for Pittston Area.
William Egan also scored for the Patriots, while Caeleb Shea added an assist.
Chase Evanofski scored the lone goal for Valley West, assisted by Aidan Kaminsky.
Tunkhannock 6, MMI Prep 0
Caden Newswanger scored four goals to lift Tunkhannock to a victory over MMI Prep.
Max Parry and Luke Hutchins added a goal each for the Tigers.
Ben Drobnock made six saves for MMI Prep.
FIELD HOCKEY
Wyoming Valley West 3, Selinsgrove 1
Three second-half goals pulled Wyoming Valley West ahead and led them to a win over Selinsgrove.
Laila Zdancewicz scored two of those goals for the Spartans, and Ava Mullery scored the other goal with an assist from Madison Orrson.
Crestwood 2, Moses Brown (R.I.) 1
The Comets picked up a big win at the Max Field Hockey Invitational, taking down Rhode Island powerhouse Moses Brown.
Lexi Zabroski scored the game winner in the fourth quarter for Crestwood. Ava McConnell added the Comets’ other goal.
Crestwood 6, South Glenn Falls (N.Y.) 1
Six different Comets scored in another Crestwood victory at the Max Field Hockey Invitational.
Alyse Wanchisen, Ally George, Lexi Zabroski, Ally Myers, Gabby Carlin and Alex Geiger scored a goal apiece for Crestwood.
Easton 5, Hazleton Area 0
The Cougars couldn’t get anything going in a shutout loss to District 11 opponent Easton.
Gretchen Darr made 16 saves in net for Hazleton Area.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Weatherly Area 3, MMI Prep 1
The Preppers avoided a sweep but couldn’t pull out a win, falling to Weatherly Area in four sets.
Weatherly won the first set 25-23, and MMI took the second 28-26. Weatherly won the final two sets 25-19 and 25-14 to win the match.
Alexa Fazio had 10 kills for MMI Prep. Shreeya Parikh had 20 assists.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Misericordia wins two
The Cougars improved to 10-1 on the year, ten wins in a row, with wins over Manhattanville and Ramapo.
In the first match, Misericordia swept Manhattanville 25-18, 25-22 and 25-20. Keira McCaffrey had nine kills.
Misericordia then swept Ramapo 25-21, 25-18 and 25-22 to complete the sweep. Jennifer Nicometo had 15 kills and nine digs.
King’s splits tri-match
The Monarchs started the day right with a sweep of Maritime College, but fell in four sets to Muhlenberg to end the day 1-1.
In the opener, King’s swept the three sets by scores of 25-22, 25-10 and 25-8. Lindsay Arezina led the team with 10 kills.
In the nightcap, King’s won the first set 25-23 but dropped the next three by 25-13, 26-24 and 25-12 scores.
FIELD HOCKEY
Goucher 2, Wilkes 1
A Wilkes comeback attempt came up short in the Colonels’ Landmark Conference opener.
Morgan Hermanofski scored the lone goal for Wilkes late in the fourth quarter to cut Goucher’s lead in half.
MEN’S SOCCER
Misericordia 0, Penn State Brandywine 0
Despite a lofty advantage in shots, Misericordia couldn’t find the back of the net and played to a draw.
The Cougars outshot PSU Brandywine 28-3, and didn’t allow any shots on goal.
WOMEN’S GOLF
Wilkes’ McCance competes
Kyleen McCance finished in 16th place after the opening round of Catholic University’s Fall Classic on Saturday.
McCance shot an 83 in her opening round. Catholic University’s Brooke Smith was the leader with a 70 after the first round.
MEN’S GOLF
Wilkes 332, Misericordia 346
Cole Jungwirth earned medalist honors with a 75 as Wilkes pulled out the win over Misericordia. Matthew Carlson added a round of 79 for the Colonels, his best round of the season.
Cameron Purrington was the low scorer for Misericordia with a round of 78.
