The Shamokin offense proved too powerful for Wyoming Area to stop, as the Warriors fell to the District 4 champ by a 90-60 final score on Friday night in the first round of the PIAA Class 4A boys basketball playoffs.
Shamokin opened up a 26-9 lead after the first quarter and led by as many as 38 points in the win. Joe Hile had 19 points to lead Shamokin, who had four scorers in double figures.
Anthony DeLucca and Luke Kopetchny had 17 points each to lead Wyoming Area. Lukas Burakiewicz added 12 points for the Warriors, who finish the season with a 17-10 record and a District 2 silver medal.
Pottsgrove 83, Pittston Area 39
Pittston Area’s season came to an end at the hands of Pottsgrove, the third seed from District 1, in the Class 5A first round.
Kamal Curry led the Falcons with 17 points.
The Patriots were led by Paul Jordan McGarry, who had 11 points and drilled three three-pointers.
