The Crestwood girls and Dunmore boys track and field teams won the titles Thursday night in the Walter J. Godek Twilight Invitational at North Pocono.
Crestwood’s team title led a strong performance by Wyoming Valley Conference individuals and relay teams in the event, which drew more than 20 schools.
Pittston Area and Crestwood finished second and third in the boys team standings and Wyoming Area was third among girls.
Crestwood used 1-2 finishes from Katie Kozich and Kaelyn Barker in both the 1600- and 3200-meter runs to post 83 points. Delaware Valley outscored Wyoming Area 53-49 for second.
Kozich won the 1600 in 5:17.65 and the 3200 in 11:09.53.
Hope Kline, with a javelin throw of 117-1, and Grayce Grazio, with a high jump of 5-2, also claimed titles for the Comets.
Wyoming Area was led by relay wins in the opening and closing events on the track.
The Warriors posted a 15-plus second win of 8:36.97 in the 3200 and won the 1600 in 4:10.55. Hannah Stoss, Shannon Kearns and Ella McKernan were on both teams. Lucia Campenni completed the 3200 lineup while Isabella Costa ran on the 1600 team.
Nevaeh Baran led Nanticoke to a seventh-place finish with 34 1/3 points by winning both the long jump and triple jump.
Lake-Lehman was 12th, Pittston Area 13th and Tunkhannock 18th of the 19 teams that scored in the meet.
Jalen Moore led the way for the Pittston Area boys, who edged Crestwood 56-55 for second place behind Dunmore’s 70 1/3.
Moore won the 100-meter dash in 11.71 and 200 in 22.95 along with taking second in the 400 in 50.53.
Caden Boettger gave the Patriots another win by finishing in 2:04.06 in the 800 where the top five runners, including three from Lake-Lehman, were all from the WVC.
Lake-Lehman used its strength in that event to win the 3200 relay with a team of Stephen Martin, Finn Cronin, Tyler Kukavitch and Bodhi Cronin. They helped the Black Knights finish sixth as a team.
Crestwood’s Gino Pirolli won the discus with a throw of 154-6 and teammate won the pole vault with 12-0.
Tunkhannock’s Caden Newswanger won the javelin with a throw of 164-6.
Wyoming Area tied for ninth and Tunkhannock was 11th out of 21 boys teams that scored points with top-eight finishes.
