Jayden Wasielewski had 10 kills to lead Nanticoke Area as they swept Elk Lake 3-0 in a non-conference boys volleyball match on Saturday.

Set scores were 25-15, 25-14 and 25-18 all in favor of Nanticoke Area.

Brady Rushton had 25 assists for the Trojans. Ethan Yendrzeiwski had eight kills, and Zack Zubritski added seven kills and eight service points.

BASEBALL

Hazleton Area 4, Parkland 1

Playing on back-to-back days, Hazleton Area rebounded from a loss to Dallas on Friday with a non-league victory over Parkland.

Nick Ledger had a double and two RBI for the Cougars. Logan Hearity had three hits, including a triple, and scored twice.

Dominic Marino earned the win with five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out seven.

BOYS LACROSSE

Delaware Valley 18, Minisink Valley (N.Y.) 5

Peyton LaRocco led the way with six goals as Delaware Valley easily defeated Minisink Valley.

Bryson Mackey and Noah Rabolli added four goals apiece for the Warriors.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

Misericordia 15, FDU-Florham 14

Alicia Pileggi broke a 14-14 tie with just over six minutes to go, sealing the win for Misericordia and securing their spot in the MAC Freedom playoffs.

Pileggi finished with five goals total, tying a season and career high. Ashtyn Torbert scored four goals and Delaney Campanella added a hat trick for the Cougars.

Misericordia will be the fourth seed in the MAC Freedom Championships, taking on Stevens in the semifinals on Wednesday.

King’s 16, Delaware Valley 13

The Monarchs held on down the stretch to end the year on a winning note, beating Delaware Valley.

Maria Schneider had four goals for King’s while Alli Lindsay, Chloe Burke and Emilee Schultz each added a hat trick.

Catholic University 25, Wilkes 2

Wilkes was held scoreless across the final three quarters in the regular-season finale, losing to Catholic University on the road.

Brooklyn Pedana and Megan Bell each scored a goal for the Colonels. Taylor Sparks added an assist.

MEN’S LACROSSE

Misericordia 19, FDU-Florham 8

With the final spot in the MAC Freedom tournament up for grabs, Misericordia routed FDU-Florham to put themselves in the playoff picture.

Three Cougars had hat tricks in the win: Brendan Stanley, Jared Pelliccione and Connor Bevan. Bevan also had six assists.

Misericordia will be the fourth seed in the MAC Freedom tournament, and will travel to top-seeded Stevens on Wednesday for the semifinals.

King’s 15, Delaware Valley 6

Ryan Lynch scored six goals as the Monarchs snapped a six-game losing streak to beat Delaware Valley in the regular season finale for King’s.

John Wall added three goals, and Luke Babilon chipped in two goals for the Monarchs, who end their season at 2-13 with a 1-6 MAC Freedom record.

Catholic University 29, Wilkes 6

The Colonels’ Senior Day celebration was spoiled in a loss to Catholic University, bringing the season to a close.

Stone Sosnovik and Tim Hartka scored two goals each for Wilkes, with Hartka also chipping in two assists. Wilkes ends the year with a 4-13 record overall, 1-8 in the Landmark Conference.

WOMEN’S GOLF

McCance shines for Wilkes in Landmark Championship first round

Kyleen McCance fired a seven-over par 79 to put herself in a tie for fourth place after the opening round of the Landmark Championship.

McCance finished the first day just four shots behind the leader, Drew University’s Josephine Nguyen.

Wilkes shot a 396 collectively and sits in sixth place in the team standings. Drew is the team leader after one round with a 319, with Catholic University just a shot behind in second place.

Misericordia and King’s compete on opening day of MAC Championship

The Cougars shot a team score of 394 and King’s shot a 425, good for eighth and ninth place respectively, after the first day of the MAC Women’s Golf Championship.

Misericordia’s Jordan Ruane carded the best round of the day between the two schools, sitting in a tie for 17th with an 85. Madyson Pendolphi was the low scorer of the day for King’s with a 90, putting her in a tie for 22nd.

Alvernia currently leads the team championship with a team score of 311. The individual lead was tied between four golfers all shooting a three-over-par 75: Albight’s Fatima Rizvi, Alvernia’s McKylie Boreman, Lebanon Valley’s Jillian Fidler and York’s Grace Strickland.

Wilkes sits in eighth place after opening day of Landmark Championship

Cole Jungwirth shot a five-over 77, good for a tie in 17th place as Wilkes took on the first day of the Landmark Conference Championship.

Brady Noone is two shots behind Jungwirth in a tie for 26th place. The individual leader, Drew University’s Liam Larkin, shot a three-under 69. Drew also has the team lead with a total score of 289, while Wilkes shot a team score of 325 and currently sits in eighth place.

Wilkes swept by Susquehanna in doubleheader

The Colonels saw their 12-game winning streak snapped on Saturday, losing a pair to Susquehanna by 9-5 and 7-5 finals.

Devin Markert had a two-run double to lead the Wilkes offense in the opener. Jack Mathis had two hits.

In the nightcap, Jacob Cambria had an RBI and scored two runs. Chase Vrabel had an RBI double.
