Allison Kinney and Erin Van Ness both homered and doubled as the Tunkhannock softball team took over sole possession of first place in Division 1 with a 6-2 win over Dallas.
Kinney had three RBI, while Van Ness led the team with three hits. McKenzie Hannon earned the win with seven strong innings of work, allowing two unearned runs on four hits with eight strikeouts.
Carolyn Comitz had two hits for Dallas. Alyssa Traver drove in a run.
Lake-Lehman 3, Berwick 2
A pitcher’s duel was won by Lake-Lehman’s Hannah Chipego, allowing just two unearned runs on one hit to lead her team to victory.
Chipego struck out 12 in a complete-game victory. Hayley Wallace and Kirsten Finarelli each doubled for the Black Knights.
Makayla Brown struck out seven and allowed three runs (two earned) for Berwick. Ashlyn Klahold had the only hit for the Bulldogs.
Crestwood 11, Pittston Area 8
Alexa Toniatti had two hits, including a triple, and drove in three runs as Crestwood outslugged Pittston Area.
Celia Stahlnecker had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run for the Comets.
Lili Hintze had three hits and three RBI out of the leadoff spot for Pittston Area.
BASEBALL
Holy Redeemer 8, Hanover Area 6
The Royals stormed back from an early six-run deficit, defeating Hanover Area to remain undefeated in Division 2.
Noah Hummel doubled and drove in three runs for Holy Redeemer. Kayden Stevenson added two RBI and two runs scored.
Cole Kablick had three hits and drove in two runs for Hanover Area.
Wyoming Seminary 11, Wyoming Area 3
The Blue Knights broke the game open with a six-run fifth inning to beat Wyoming Area.
Antek Evan had a double and two RBI for Sem. Colin Donovan and Ryan Finlay added two RBI each. Teddy Kraus pitched a complete game to earn the win.
Ben Rogish had two hits, drove in a run and scored a run for Wyoming Area.
Wyoming Valley West 8, Dallas 8 (susp.)
The Spartans and the Mountaineers were headed to the ninth inning in a tie ballgame when darkness led to the game being suspended.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Nanticoke Area 3, Hanover Area 1
The Trojans wrapped up the regular season with a win over rival Hanover Area in four sets.
Nanticoke Area won the first two sets 25-15 and 25-18. Hanover Area won the third set 25-18, but the Trojans came back for a 25-18 win in the fourth to seal the match.
Brady Rushton had 38 assists, 16 service points and 13 blocks for Nanticoke Area. Zack Zubritski and Ethan Yendrzeiwski had 12 kills apiece.
Holy Redeemer 3, Tunkhannock 0
The Royals celebrated Senior Night in style, sweeping Tunkhannock. Set scores were 25-11, 25-12 and 25-13 for Redeemer.
Josh Rocha had 27 kills to lead the Royals. Hayden Fleegle had eight service points, while Cole Bradley added four points and Jack Broda chipped in two kills.
Crestwood 3, Abington Heights 0
Crestwood capped off their best regular season in over a decade with a sweep of Abington Heights.
Set scores were 25-21, 25-19 and 27-25 for Crestwood, finishing the regular season at 12-3.
JJ Stec had 15 kills, while Tommy McLaughlin added eight kills and six blocks. Luke Joseph had 20 digs and six service points.
