Jackie Gallagher scored a game-high five goals to send Crestwood back to the District 2 Class 2A girls lacrosse championship game with an 18-8 win over Wyoming Seminary on Monday.

Gia Caporuscio and Hannah Ziegler added four goals each for the Comets.

Emmy Swartz and Ellie Kersey each had hat tricks for Sem.

Crestwood will play at top-seeded Abington Heights in the district final at 7 p.m. Thursday. Both schools have qualified for the state tournament based on their semifinal wins.

Abington Heights 12, North Pocono 4

The Comets kept their undefeated season intact and advanced to Thursday’s championship game with a win over North Pocono.

Morgan Davis scored four goals and assisted on three more for Abington Heights.

BOYS LACROSSE

Scranton Prep 19, Wyoming Seminary 7

The Cavaliers punched their ticket to the District 2 Class 2A championship game with a win over Wyoming Seminary.

Brady Holmes had five goals and three assists to lead Prep. Jack Rully, Mackey Lynett, Ryan Davis and Colin McMullen had three goals apiece.

Dan Fisher and Owen Stratanski had two goals each for Sem.

Scranton Prep will host Crestwood in the district title game at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Crestwood 11, Abington Heights 5

Kevin Schlude scored four goals as Crestwood advanced to the District 2 Class 2A championship game.

Jack Augustine had two goals and four assists for Crestwood, which will play at Scranton Prep at 5 p.m. Thursday. Ashton Ahmend had two goals and four assists. Logan Lawson had two goals while Jack Jeckell added one.

Crestwood goalie Ethan Zabroski had 13 saves.

Rodman Azar scored three goals for Abington. Chris Bohn and Lindsay Gavin had one each.

SOFTBALL

Pittston Area 12, Shikellamy 2

The Patriots’ offense led the way in a District 2/4 Class 5A quarterfinal victory in five innings.

Marina Antal had three hits, including a double, with three runs scored and two RBI. Sam Herbert tripled and doubled, driving in two runs. Herbert also pitched all five innings and only allowed two unearned runs to get the win.

Pittston Area will travel to North Pocono in the Class 5A semis at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Holy Redeemer 17, Mountain View 0

Zoey Pecuch homered and drove in four runs as Holy Redeemer cruised to a three-inning win in the District 2 Class 2A quarterfinals.

Anne Carter doubled and drove in four more runs for the Royals, while also pitching three scoreless innings.

Holy Redeemer will host Dunmore on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the district semifinals.

West Scranton 14, Wyo. Valley West 4

The Spartans’ season came to an end as West Scranton posted a five-inning win in a District 2/4 Class 6A quarterfinal game.

Brooke Long had a double and an RBI for Wyoming Valley West. Madison Ostroski had an RBI. Adyson Kosakowski, Reese McGlynn and Isabella Seip all had a single.

Brianna Connor had five RBI for the Invaders, who play at Williamsport in a semifinal game on Wednesday.

Delaware Valley 6, Crestwood 5

Delaware Valley scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Crestwood in a District 2/4 Class 5A quarterfinal game.

Holly Olcott had two RBI for Del Val, which will play at Abington Heights on Wednesday in the semifinals.

Madison Mendrzycki homered and had two RBI for Crestwood. Celia Stahlnecker had two doubles. Brooke Lenahan was 2-for-4. Alexa Toniatti tripled and drove in a run.

SCHEDULE CHANGES

Four District 2 baseball games were moved from Wednesday to Tuesday due to the threat of inclement weather.

In Class 4A, Nanticoke Area at Mid Valley will be 6 p.m. Berwick at Crestwood will be 4:30 p.m.

In Class 6A, Wyoming Valley West at Wilkes-Barre Area will be at 4:30 p.m. In Class 2A, Blue Ridge is at Holy Redeemer at 4:30 p.m.

In Class 4A softball, the Berwick at Dallas game on Tuesday has changed the starting time to 4 p.m.
