No. 5 seed Wilkes pushed across a pair of goals over the final 30 minutes on way to a 2-1 victory over No. 4 seed Drew University in the first round of the Landmark Conference field Hockey tournament Saturday afternoon.
Wilkes’ Olivia Gayoski notched her third goal of the season off an assist from Shaelyn Donnelly, tying the game at one at 32:41 of the third quarter.
The Colonels earned a penalty corner with under three minutes remaining. The pass from Elizabeth Hodder came out to Lydia Keppel who scored the eventual game-winner.

Wilkes finishes fifth in opener
Wilkes opened its season by finishing in fifth place at the Ned McGinley Invitational at King’s College.
Ryan Santiago (141) was the first Colonel to take home first place. He started the day with an 8-1 decision before winning 9-3. Santiago dominated in his quarterfinal win, posting a 20-4 technical fall. He won 14-3 in the semifinals and 12-5 in the title bout.
At 165 pounds, top-seed Jaryn Hartranft was the other Colonels first-place winner. He won with a 15-0 tech fall to make it to the quarterfinals. He then won 12-7 and 10-0 to place first.
At 184 pounds, six-seeded Lucas Miller earned third place. Gus Smith (125) finished fifth and Ashton Romberger placed sixth.

Misericordia’s Hedglin gets honors
Misericordia’s Madison Hedglin was named MAC Runner of the Year and Rookie of the Year after winning the MAC cross country championship at Delaware Valley.
Madison Kammer was fifth while Grace Gallagher, Cassandra Burt and Rachel Ulrich were all second-team All-MAC.
Grace Morningstar and Kayla Beebe were third team All-MAC.
The Cougars finished second in the team standings, falling to Lebanon Valley 52-55 in the 14-team field.

Misericordia places third
Trey Rhinehart and Ryan Weber earned first-team All-MAC honors to lead Misericordia to a third-place finish at the MAC championships at Delaware Valley.
Rhinehart was third while Weber placed sixth.
Ryan Shulman and Thomas Bricker made second-team All-MAC.

Esabella Mendola and Olivia Maniskas scored two goals each and Kim Rudy added a goal as Misericordia defeated Lebanon Valley.
