Three Mountaineers finished in double-figures as Dallas opened up play in the PIAA Class 4A boys basketball playoffs with a 57-48 road win over Northwestern Lehigh on Friday night.
Pat Flanagan led Dallas with 16 points, Tyce Mason finished with 12 and Joey Nocito added 11 points for the Mountaineers.
Dallas went 10-for-13 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to help prevent Northwestern Lehigh from mounting a comeback.
Brady Krimmel led Northwestern Lehigh with 15 points.
The Mountaineers will play Carver Engineering and Sciences in the second round on Tuesday at a time and site yet to be announced.
Carver, the fifth-place team out of District 12, took down District 3 champion Berks Catholic to advance to the second round.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Holy Redeemer 61, Loyalsock Township 55
Bella Boylan dropped 23 points, and the Royals pulled ahead in the second half and stayed ahead to knock out the defending state champions in the opening round of the PIAA Class 3A tournament.
Holy Redeemer trailed by two at the half, but outscored Loyalsock Township 16-9 in the third quarter and held on for the win.
McKenzie Chimock added 17 points for the Royals, draining three three-pointers, and Tessa Cegelka finished with 10 points in the win.
Alaina Dadzie led Loyalsock Township with a game-high 28 points.
Holy Redeemer will face Imhotep Charter, the District 12 champion, on Tuesday at a time and site yet to be announced.
Imhotep defeated Pine Grove 62-33 in the first round on Friday.
