Holy Redeemer’s McKenzie Chimock will be one of four players from the PIAA Class 3A state runner-up Royals playing in the Dr. George P. Moses Senior All-Star Classic on Friday night at Wilkes-Barre Area High School.

Some of the top senior basketball players in the Wyoming Valley Conference will get one more game before the local fans.
The 57th Dr. George P. Moses Senior All-Star Classic will be played Friday night at Wilkes-Barre Area High School. The girls game is at 6:30 p.m. and the boys game will begin at 8 p.m.
The 3-point shootout finals will be held at halftime of both games.
The Wyoming Valley Athletic Association started the event in 1969. It’s been held annually except for its cancellation in 2020 and 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Proceeds from the game go to people and families in need throughout the Wyoming Valley. Over $1 million has been raised.
Here are the four teams and the players scheduled to participate.
GIRLS GAME
Team Grant: Nanticoke Area’s Ed Grant will coach the team which features his entire starting lineup of Natalee Atkins, Nevaeh Baran, Amiah Ceruti, Jordyn Johnson and Kate Reed.
Dallas will have three players on the team — Mia DelGaudio, Molly Walsh and Lyla Wydra. Pittston Area will be represented by Leah Drozginski, Lili Hintze and Giuliana Latona.
Lake-Lehman will have Kathryn Morgan and Olivia Oliver on the squad. Berwick’s Kaylie Fraind, MMI Prep’s Georgia Washko, Tunkhannock’s Olivia Williams and Wyoming Seminary’s Maya Gross were also selected.
Team Jezorwski: Holy Redeemer’s John Jezorwski, who coached his team to the Class 3A state title game, will have four of his starters on the team — Bella Boylan, Tessa Cegelka, McKenzie Chimock and Kearney Quinn.
Class 5A state semifinalist Crestwood will be represented by Jordan Andrews and Keira Dougherty. Class 6A state quarterfinalist Hazleton Area will have Miranda Chupela, Addison Fritz, Kayla Lagowy and Alexis Reimold on the team.
Wyoming Valley West will have Makenna Colleran, Gabbi Novitski and Ava Yancey as its representatives. Lake-Lehman’s Delcia Biscotto and Olivia Corcoran, Hanover Area’s Emma Schlingman, Wilkes-Barre Area’s Alyssa Thebeault and Wyoming Area’s Abi Francis round out the selections.
BOYS GAME
Division 1: Crestwood, Hazleton Area and Wilkes-Barre Area will all have three players on the team.
Representing Crestwood will be Ayden Agapito, Gio Barna and Connor Wagaman. The WBA players will be David Jannuzzi, Mike Keating and Camrin Shovlin.
Yohansel “Yo-Yo” Moran, Kendrick Ortiz and Oscaudy Vasquez will be the Hazleton Area representatives. Dallas will have Kael Berry and Brady Mizzer on the team. Stephen Barnic and Jacob Ivey are the Pittston Area players who were chosen.
Nanticoke Area’s Mathias Mitchell and Wyoming Valley West’s Jaquell Smith were also chosen.
Dallas’ Mark Belenski will coach the team.
Division 2: Holy Redeemer will have three players on the team — Quron Drayton, Kyaire McLean and Cody Quaglia. Tunkhannock also had three players chosen — Colin Gregory, Bode Lukasavage and Caden Newswanger.
Three teams will have two players each.
RJ Gernhardt and John Redington will be from Wyoming Seminary. Jandel Figueroa and Ben Gombeda were selected from MMI Prep. Shane Pepe and Bruno Pizzano will be the Wyoming Area players.
Hanover Area’s Noah Sabecky and Lake-Lehman’s Hunter Palka round out the Division 2 team.
Wyoming Area’s Anthony Macario will be the coach.
