Seven Wyoming Valley Conference players were selected Tuesday to the Pennsylvania Sports Writers girls basketball all-state teams, including three to first teams.
Hazleton Area junior Kaitlyn Bindas was named to the Class 6A first team. Crestwood junior Jackie Gallagher was selected to the Class 5A first team. Wyoming Seminary junior Ella Stambaugh was chosen to the Class 2A first team.
Selected to the Class 5A second team were Crestwood senior Keira Dougherty and Dallas senior Molly Walsh. Holy Redeemer senior McKenzie Chimock was chosen to the Class 3A second team while senior teammate Bella Boylan made the Class 3A third team.
Three players from the Lackawanna League also received honors. Mountain View senior Addison Kilmer was named the Player of the Year in Class 2A. Scranton Prep sophomore Chloe Mamera and Valley View junior Cara Castellani made the Class 4A second team.
Bindas was a second-team selection in 2025. The 5-foot-6 guard was a dangerous scoring anywhere on the court, with the ability to slash inside or drain a 3-pointer. She led WVC Division 1 in scoring with a 19.7 average and was second in 3-pointers with 45. She also reached 1,000 career points during the season.
Gallagher was a third-team pick in 2025. The 6-footer was capable of playing beyond the arc or in the paint where she was a strong rebounder. She finished fourth in Division 1 in scoring with an 18-point average, connected on 31 3-pointers and led the entire WVC by hitting 80% from the foul line. She reached 1,000 career points this season
Stambaugh was a third-team selection last year. The Richmond recruit wasn’t a traditional big. At 6-2, she was capable of playing all five positions in leading Seminary to its deepest run ever in the PIAA state playoffs. She led the entire WVC with a 21.2 scoring average and led Division 2 by hitting 71.2% from the foul line. She tied for second in Division 2 with 32 3-pointers while also scoring her 1,000th point.
Dougherty and Walsh took the same path to Class 5A second-team honors. Both suffered knee injuries playing basketball in the summer of 2025 and missed their entire junior seasons. Both were aggressive attacking the rim but also dangerous from 3-point land. Both also reached 1,000 career points.
Dougherty averaged 15.3 points, sixth best in Division 1. Her 35 3-pointers were the fourth most in the division. Walsh was third in Division 1 in scoring with an 18.4 average. She hit 78.2% of her free throws, second best in the division, and had 27 3-pointers.
Chimock and Boylan were instrumental in Redeemer reaching a PIAA state championship game for the first time in school history.
Chimock averaged 12.4 points during the regular season and was second in Division 2 by hitting 69.6% of her free throws. She tied for second with 32 3-pointers. She took her game to another level in the postseason run.
Boylan is one of the best all-around athletes in the WVC, earning all-state honors in volleyball while being a standout on the softball field. She brought an intensity and fire to the court where she averaged 12.9 points during the regular season.
