Crestwood led a series of strong Wyoming Valley performances Friday night when 20 track and field teams from in and outside of the conference gathered for the Northwest Rangers Invitational.
The Comets won the girls title and finished second in the boys standings.
Hazleton Area and Nanticoke Area finished second and third among girls teams and Lake-Lehman continued a big week by placing third among boys.
The Crestwood girls, who lead WVC Division 1 with a 2-0 start, won two of the three relays and six events total.
Katie Kozich and Mollie Kozich finished 1-2 in the 3200-meter run and the 1600-meter run where teammate Adrienne Shebelock followed in third place.
Riley Ruch won the 800.
Those distance efforts helped the Comets separate from Hazleton Area 134-105.
Grayce Grazio won the high jump.
Elijah Zeneski, in the high hurdles, and Anson Jumper, in the pole vault, won for the Crestwood boys.
Alexis Reimold and Allyson Wolfe finished first and second in the pole vault and the Hazleton Area girls also got a win in the 400 relay.
Nanticoke, the early leader in WVC Division 2 with three wins, placed third with the help of a big day from Neveah Baran.
Baran won the long jump and triple jump while adding silver and bronze medals.
Three days after ending the 38-meet WVC winning streak by six-time defending Division 2 champion Wyoming Area, Lake-Lehman placed third in the boys standings.
The Cronin twins again led the way.
Bodhi Cronin won the 800 and triple jump along with anchoring a win in the 1600 relay. Finn Cronin was also part of the 1600 relay win and finished second behind his brother in the 800, joining him in finishing in under two minutes.
Stephen Martin, the relay leadoff runner, won the 1600.
Wyoming Area used three individual wins to place fifth in the boys standings between fourth-place Hazleton Area and Holy Redeemer.
Ben Gravine set a school record with a discus throw of 158-5 while Josh Mruk won the shot put and Nicholas Kondrosky won the long jump.
Wyoming Area’s Janesa Sancho was one of the top girls performers. She won the 300 hurdles by more than three seconds in 46.52 and the 100 hurdles in nearly a second in 15.81.
The WVC’s other individual winners were Berwick’s Ty’Meere Wilkerson in the boys 100, Wyoming Valley West’s Santiago Alvarez in the boys 800 and Lake-Lehman’s Delcia Biscotto in the girls javelin.
Pittston Area won the 3200 boys relay.
