Holy Redeemer broke open a tie ballgame with six runs in the third inning and cruised from there, taking down Holy Cross 11-1 in five innings in a non-league District 2 baseball game on Saturday.
Cody Quaglia had three hits (including two doubles), three RBI and scored three times for the Royals. Dominic Marranca had four hits and drove in three runs.
Alex Gordon and Reilly Hossage drove in two runs each for Redeemer, and Hossage also earned the win with 4.2 solid innings on the mound.
Wyoming Seminary 16, Blue Ridge 4 (6 inn.)
The Blue Knights scored 12 of their 16 runs across the final two innings to turn a tight game into a runaway win.
Ryan Finlay had two hits and three RBI for Seminary. John Comitz added two RBI. The Blue Knights only had six hits but drew 18 walks to help move runners around.
Honesdale 3, Lake-Lehman 2
After briefly giving up the lead in the top of the fifth, Honesdale scored two runs in the bottom of the inning and ultimately held off Lake-Lehman for the win.
Will Jenkins had two hits and scored a run for Lake-Lehman. Justin Morris and Devon Albee drove in a run each.
Valley View 9, Tunkhannock 0
The Tigers were held in check at the plate in a shutout loss to Valley View.
Luke Borusiewicz earned the win for the Cougars, coming on to pitch in the second inning and tossing six scoreless frames with nine strikeouts.
Jimmy Patton and Shea Harvey had the only two hits for the Tigers.
SOFTBALL
Tunkhannock 9, Parkland 6
Parkland made it a little close for comfort with three runs in the seventh inning, but Tunkhannock was able to hold on and pick up a non-league victory.
Michaela Howell homered and drove in two runs for Tunkhannock. Kayden Bamberger had two doubles and two RBI.
Crestwood 11, Mountain View 1 (5 inn.)
Kayla Sinavage homered as part of a four-hit game and drove in five runs as Crestwood overwhelmed Mountain View in five innings.
Celia Stahlnecker also had four hits for the Comets, including a triple, and scored three runs. Brianna Petzold and Holly Rodgers drove in two runs each in the win.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Wyoming Seminary 16, Tunkhannock 1
Natalina DeNaples, Ellie Kersey and Cali Gardner each notched a hat trick as the Blue Knights routed Tunkhannock.
Ryleigh McDonnell added two goals for Sem. Sara Williams had one goal and a team-high three assists.
Madelyn Bevan had the lone goal of the contest for Tunkhannock.
Scranton Prep 21, Pittston Area 7
Caroline Morgan and McKenna Toolan scored nine goals each as Scranton Prep sailed past Pittston Area.
Milania Widdick and Maddie Lis both had hat tricks for Pittston Area.
BOYS LACROSSE
Scranton Prep 10, Horseheads (N.Y.) 9
Will McPartland scored five goals as Scranton Prep took a long road trip and came home with a win over Horseheads High School.
Mackey Lynett added a hat trick for Prep. James Stallman made 11 saves in the victory.
Selinsgrove 13, Lake-Lehman 7
From Friday, Logan Law reached a career milestone with his 100th career point but the Black Knights couldn’t pull off the win over Selinsgrove.
Law had two goals in the contest. Anthony Magnotta and Matt Finarelli also had two goals apiece for Lake-Lehman. Hunter Palka had four assists.
