The Greater Pittston Area Major Softball All-Stars kicked off District 31 pool play on Saturday evening with a bang, running away with an 18-0 win in three innings over Harveys Lake.
Kylie Kroski and Grace Whiting each drove in three runs for GPA. Hannah Beekman and Sadie Bomber had two RBI apiece.
Andrea Colon threw three no-hit innings for GPA, striking out nine.
Emma Whitmoyer drew a walk and Opal Candelario reached on a hit-by-pitch for Harveys Lake.
GPA will have Monday’s pool play action off and will next take the field on Wednesday against the Plains/KFF team.
Harveys Lake will take on Plains/KFF first, playing them on Monday.
Back Mountain 13, Plains/Kingston/Forty-Fort 3
Olivia Aten threw five strong innings, allowing one earned run and striking out 13 hitters to lead Back Mountain to a pool play victory in five innings.
Avery Mullery had two hits, including a double, and three RBI to lead the Back Mountain offense. Everleigh Morris and Rylynn Feldmann each doubled and drove in two runs, while Ella Wilson chipped in with a pair of singles.
Alivia Moska, Adley Zdancewicz and Lilyana Klemps each had base hits for Plains/KFF.
Back Mountain will play Greater Wyoming Area on Monday as pool play continues. GWA, the defending District 31 champion, was the only team in pool play not to play on Saturday.
Plains/KFF will take on Greater Pittston Area on Monday.
