Hanover resident Tyler Gavlick completed his second Costa Bassmaster High School Championship last month in Tennessee. Gavlick, who recently graduated from Hanover Area High School, and his partner, Benjamin King of Lewisburg, finished 80th out of 232 teams with a 10-fish limit and a combined weight of 25 pounds, 10 oz.

The tournament, which was held on Kentucky Lake, was cut from three days to two due to weather. After day one, Gavlick and King were in 25th place overall with a combined weight of 18.1 pounds.

Gavlick hopes to become a pro bass angler in the future and will compete in several tournaments this summer, including the FLW series in New York. He’s also planning on continuing his education to become a paramedic and is a volunteer with the Hanover Township Fire Department.
