Lake-Lehman grad Cayle Spencer closed out her junior campaign with a 12th-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 39.09 meters during Thursday’s Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in La Crosse, Wis.
The King’s College thrower, who was competing in the second flight, recorded a toss of 38.90 meters on her first attempt to sit in 11th place after the first round of throws. She then recorded a throw of 38.26 meters on her second attempt. Her best throw of the day came on her third and final attempt as she unleashed a toss of 39.09 meters.
Machaela Graddy of Pacific Lutheran University won with a mark of 45.80 meters on her second attempt of the day.
MU’s Schoen finishes 21st
Misericordia University’s Clare Schoen competed finished 21st in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships.
Schoen finished in 39 minutes and 55.83 seconds. Schoen was in third place after finishing the first mile in 5:47.7.
Taryn Cordani of Ithaca won the event for the second straight year at 35:03.2.
