WILKES-BARRE — With Backyard Baseball Night coming to PNC Field on Saturday, and the RailRiders playing as the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Melonheads, three of the men responsible for the iconic sports video game, “Backyard Baseball,” and franchise, “Backyard Sports,” join this week’s episode of Riding The Rails — Nick Mirkovich, Matt Mahon and Erik Haldi.

Mirkovich, the creator of “Backyard Baseball,” and Mahon and Haldi, who were both developers for “Backyard Baseball” and the rest of the franchise, discuss how Backyard Baseball Night came to be and what fans can expect on Saturday (1:18), the origin of “Backyard Baseball” (4:58), getting professional athletes involved with the franchise (10:08), the creation of Pablo Sanchez and their favorite “Backyard kids” (18:02), their favorite “Backyard Sports” memories (26:13), whether or not “Backyard Baseball” would be as big of a hit if it was created today (30:17), their excitement for Backyard Baseball Night on Saturday (39:09) and much, much more.
