Coughlin grad Ray Black appeared in three games this past week for Triple-A Sacramento, pitching three scoreless innings.

Black pushed his scoreless innings streak up to six after the three outings in which he only gave up one hit and struck out four batters. The 27-year-old reliever lowered his Triple-A ERA down to 3.78 in the process.

Matt Wotherspoon

The Crestwood grad continued what has been an impressive June after a rocky start to the season, posting a 5.60 ERA after May. But after a pair of relief outings this past week for Triple-A Norfolk, Wotherspoon has dropped his ERA down to 4.34.

In a combined 1.1 scoreless innings, Wotherspoon gave up just two hits while striking out a pair.

Sal Biasi

The Hazleton Area alum took to the mound twice this past week for Single-A Lexington, pitching a pair of scoreless innings and giving up a total of two hits and a walk while striking out three.

Biasi now sports a 5.13 ERA.

Mike Papi

The Tunkhannock grad appeared in four games for Triple-A Columbus this week, getting hits in three of them. Papi was 1 for 4 with a run scored and RBI on June 17, which was his best game of the week.

Papi is now batting .259.

Jhordany Mezquita

The former Hazleton Area student made his 2018 debut on Wednesday, pitching five scoreless innings for Low-A Williamsport. Mezquita gave up five hits, but struck out six in what was a no decision.

Tony Hernandez

The Hazleton Area grad made his 2018 debut for the Gulf Coast League Yankees East on Wednesday.

He pitched 4.2 scoreless innings and allowed four hits and a walk while striking out a pair.

Notable

Hazleton Area alum Joey Baran has yet to been assigned to a Milwaukee Brewers affiliate after being drafted earlier this month.
