Gianna Adams pitches Pittston Area Little League to victory

Gianna Adams pitched a complete-game two-hitter and struck out 10 batters Monday as Pittston Area opened the Section 5 Major Softball Tournament with an 11-1 victory over Old Forge.

Adams also added three singles at the plate in the victory. Marian Antal finished with a triple and a single in the victory, Ava Callahan had a double and a single and Isabella Giardina finished with two singles for Pittston Area.

Alexa Mulrooney and Eliza Distasi had the only two hits for Old Forge.

DISTRICT 31

9-11 BASEBALL

Kingston/Forty Fort 7,

Greater Wyoming Area 5

Max Brown was the winning pitcher and had two hits to lead Kingston/Forty Fort. Roger Staron finished with three hits in the victory and Evan Allen added a pair of hits.

David Fath doubled and pitched a strong game for Greater Wyoming Area before leaving due to pitch count.

Back Mountain National 11,

Northwest 1

Kyle Chesman earned the victory and had a double among his two hits to lead Back Mountain National.

Zach Williams also had two hits in the victory and Sam Finarelli and Ben Wickenheiser both finished with three RBI.

Josh Miner and Ryan Miner had the only two hits for Northwest.

DISTRICT 16

9-10-11 BASEBALL

Township Baseball 15, Hanover 0, 3 innings

Jake Aftewicz earned the win and Chris Scavo came on in relief as the two combined to pitch a three-inning no-hitter.

Aiden Lynn homered in the victory and Scavo, Lynn, Brycen Martin and Preston Rusyn all had multiple hits.

AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL

Mountain Post 7, Plains 0

Eric Witner and Nick Vital combined on a one-hit shutout and Mike Bafunno had a triple among his two hits while adding two RBI with two runs scored to lead Mountain Post.

Witner worked six innings and held Plains to a lone hit to pick up the win.
