Bruce Caldwell, signed a free agent minor league contract with the New York Yankees this offseason, is in his first season with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. He sports a .246 batting average with three doubles, five home runs and 21 RBI in 38 games with the RailRiders. Caldwell has split time between Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Double-A Trenton this year.

Here’s five things you might not know about the RailRiders infielder:

1. Baseball is one of my favorite sports.

2. I didn’t get my first cell phone or car until the second semester of my senior year in high school.

3. I’ve seen every season and all of the episodes of the television show “Gossip Girl.”

4. Growing up, I used to play volleyball every Tuesday and Thursday with my parents.

5. I have a pet cat named Chip.
