Swoyersville Legion advanced to the next round of the Pennsylvania State Senior Legion Tournament with a 3-0 victory over Hempfield East on Sunday at Bear Stadium in Boyertown.

While details of the night game were not available at press time, according to the tournament’s Twitter page, the game remained scoreless through five innings.

In the top of the sixth inning, Swoyersville broke through for one run to take a 1-0 lead.

Hempfield East responded in the bottom of the inning by loading the bases, but Swoyersville held them without a run.

Swoyersville then picked up two insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning and kept their opponent off the board in the bottom of the inning to end the game.

With the win Swoyersville will play in Game 11 at 7:05 p.m. Monday against Souderton in Boyertown. Hempfield East plays at 3:35 p.m. in Game 10 vs. Ephrata.
