Coughlin grad Ray Black was promoted to the San Francisco Giants as part of the September call-ups on Saturday.

The right-hander pitched a pair of scoreless innings for Triple-A Sacramento this week. He struck out five batters as well.

Black has appeared in 16 games for the Giants this season, racking up a 2-2 record and 5.74 ERA in 15.2 innings.

Mike Papi

The Tunkhannock grad’s season has likely come to an end.

Papi was placed on the 7-day disabled list on Friday by Triple-A Columbus. The move was retroactive to Wednesday.

Papi .247 in 83 games with the Clippers this season.

Sal Biasi

The Hazleton Area alum threw a scoreless relief outing for the third straight time on Friday.

Biasi struck out two batters and gave up only a hit and walk in 2.2 innings for Single-A Wisconsin. The 22-year-old right-hander has a 3-3 record and 4.34 on the season. However, Biasi has a 2.03 ERA in six games with Wisconsin.

Matt Wotherspoon

The Crestwood grad pitched 0.2 perfect innings for Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.

Wotherspoon has pitched in 38 games for the Tides, securing a 2-8 record and 4.65 ERA.

Jhordany Mezquita

The former Hazleton Area student was assigned to the Gulf Coast League Phillies West on Aug. 23, but hasn’t pitched since Aug. 11.

The GCL season is already over.
