Holy Redeemer junior forward Annie Bagnall had a day to remember on Thursday.

Scoring her third goal of the afternoon with one minute and 16 seconds remaining in the first half, Bagnall netted her 100th career goal as the Holy Redeemer girls soccer team defeated Wyoming Seminary, 8-0.

Bagnall was one of two Royals to register a hat trick, with Kasey Danko being the other. Holy Redeemer’s Carly Cavanaugh pitched in with three assists.

Hazleton Area 2, Nanticoke Area 1

After scoring a pair of first-half goals, Hazleton Area was able to hold on despite a late run from Nanticoke Area, thanks to a goal in the 60th minute from Amiah Lukowski.

Ashyn Thuringer and Kaitlyn Beiler both scored goals for the Cougars.

Lake-Lehman 5, Wyoming Area 1

Madison Brdaric and Emily Smith each netted a pair of goals in a Lake-Lehman win. Chloe Weaver added a goal and three assists for the Black Knights.

Wyoming Area goalkeeper Lauren Kelly made a game-high 13 saves.

GAR 1, Hanover Area 1, OT

Selena Amigon put GAR on the board with 17 minutes remaming in the first half, but Hanover Area’s Steph Lewis would answer before the second half was out.

Hanover Area’s Abby Thompson made a game-high 11 saves.

BOYS SOCCER

Hazleton Area 8, Nanticoke Area 3

Mike Mehalshick and Luke Russo each scored a pair of goals while Wil Garcia added a goal and two assists as the Cougars routed Nanticoke Area.

The Trojans were paced Tyler Rushton, who scored a goal and had an assist.

MMI Prep 2, Hanover Area 1

Nick Evans made things interesting with a goal in the 75th minute, but at that point, MMI Prep had done too much damage.

Ian Dewar and Carter Frask each scored for the Preppers.

GIRLS TENNIS

GAR 3, Pittston Area 2

With the three Wilkes-Barre Area high schools set to merge next season, GAR ended its season, and the program, on a high note.

The doubles pairings of Samathana Rodriguez and Magaly Martinez and Jennifer Aguilar and Yasmin Guzman were victorious for GAR. Michelle Tapia won her singles match in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.

Abby Connors and Sarah Armitage both won their singles matches for Pittston Area.

GOLF

Wyoming Seminary 166, MMI Prep 169

Wyoming Seminary’s Jeremy Callahan was the medalist after shooting a 38.

Callahan’s 38 was the difference as Morgan Wong, Jessica McClellan and Christian Homnack each shot 40s for MMI Prep.

Bobby Wilson shot a 41 for the Blue Knights.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Nanticoke Area 3, MMI Prep 0

Nanticoke Area left MMI Prep with a three-game victory, taking down the Preppers 25-5, 25-14, 25-14.

Nanticoke was paced by Carly Reakes, who finished with a kill, 24 assists, three blocks and three digs. Rayza Ruiz added an ace, 10 kills, an assist, two blocks and five digs in the win.

Summer Evancho finished with five kills, two aces and three service points for MMI Prep.

Tunkhannock 3, Berwick 1

Tunkhannock improved to 8-1 after beating Berwick, 25-15, 25-19, 23-25, 25-20.

Molly Goodwin paced the Tigers with 11 kills, 14 hits and 12 digs. Jena Simmons added four kills, 14 hits and 19 digs while Megan Straley chipped in with seven kills, 15 hits and 23 digs in a winning effort.

Berwick’s Glorimar Guzman had 20 digs, Alexis Hunsinger had eight kills and Leah Watts had 19 assists and seven digs.

Delaware Valley 3, Crestwood 0

The Comets fell to Delaware Valley 25-2, 25-12, 25-11.

Crestwood was paced by Kristen Kania, who had three kills, three assists and three service points. Carly Bono also picked up two digs and two service points.

Misericordia splits tri-match

The Cougars lost to Marywood, 3-1, and swept Penn College, 3-0.

Tara Welliver had 11 kills and three blocks against Marywood and Jessica Oltman and Sarah Pool added six kills each.

Amanda Curcio had five blocks and Oltman added three.
