Wyoming Valley West fell 45-7 against Delaware Valley on Friday night.

The Spartans got off to a rough start as Delaware Valley blocked a punt and capitalized on the short field to go up 7-0 with nine minutes and 13 seconds remaining in the first quarter. Things continued to go downhill for the Spartans as a punt on there next possession led to another touchdown for the Warriors.

Delaware Valley went into the second quarter up 14-0, but would strike twice more and add a field goal to enter halftime up 31-0.

The Warriors opened the second half with another touchdown to put the game out of reach.

However, Wyoming Valley West was able to break up the shutout when Jerimiah Williams was able to take the last Delaware Valley kickoff back for a score.

Wallenpaupack 36, Williamsport 17

The Millionaires fell to 5-4 on the season after losing to Wallenpaupack.

Williamsport started the game with a quick three-and-out and the Buckhorns took advantage of having the ball. Wallenpaupack ran the ball 11 straight times on its way to scoring the game’s first points. After missing the extra point, the Buckhorns went for two on their next score to go up 14-0.

The Millionaires finally starting moving the ball on Wallenpaupack, but was forced to settle for a field goal to cut the deficit to 14-3.

The Buckhorns offense was not going wait around to let Williamsport back into the game as it drove 71 yards for a score and converted on another two-point play to go up 22-3, which would stand going into halftime.

Wallenpaupack gave the Millionaires life on the opening kick of the second half as a fumble led to a Williamsport recovery. Williamsport didn’t waste anytime as Colin Esposito hauled in 16-yard touchdown reception, making it a 22-10 game.

The Buckhorns refused to let Williamsport gain momentum as they drove down the field and Nick Ruggieri rushed for his second touchdown of the game.

Williamsport, taking one more chance to get back into the game, pulled out a reverse pass to make it a 28-17 game, but Wallenpaupack would score once more, adding the two-point conversion, making it a 36-17 game, officially knocking the wind out of the Millionaires’ sails.
