Mitchell Rome from Dallas was named a second-team selection on the Pennsylvania Track and Field Coaches Association all-state cross country team on Thursday.

Rome was one of just two from District 2 to be recognized among the top 20 boys, top 20 girls and 2 coaches around the state, regardless of class.

Wallenpaupack’s Tyler Wirth, the District 2-4 Class 3A champion made the boys first team.

Rome won a District 2 Class 2A title and finished fourth in his class for his second straight state medal after contributing to two state team championships as a freshman and sophomore. He was among the 10 runners on the second team.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Misericordia 68, College of Staten Island 64

Jason Kenny led the Cougars in their home opener as they beat the College of Staten Island on Wednesday night.

Kenny dropped 23 points in the win. Misericordia had two players recording a double-double as Noah Rivera had 10 points and 10 rebounds and Foster Clark had 13 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Tony Harding also added 11 points.
