Sean Murphy scored 10 of his game-high 24 points in the third quarter, allowing Crestwood to open a double-digit lead on the way to defeating Nanticoke Area 76-65 Saturday night in Wyoming Valley Conference boys basketball.

Ryan Petrosky added 23 for the Comets, which ran their winning streak to six games. Mike Palmiero added 15.

Nate Kreitzer scored 23 for Nanticoke Area, which lost for a second consecutive game after opening the season with a seven-game winning streak. Jake Krupinski added 16 and Trahjan Krupinski netted 14.

Dallas 51, Meyers 41

Nick Nocito scored 15 points, Luke DelGaudio had 12 and Dylan Schuster added 11 as Dallas defeated host Meyers.

Kendal Brewster scored 18 and Cole Walker added 12 for Meyers.

GAR 85, Wyoming Valley West 59

Will Johnson tossed in 27 points as the Grenadiers placed four players in double figures.

Shawn Adamson and Tyler Young added 14 each for GAR. Curtis Smith had 10.

Valley West’s Tom Federici led all scorers with 26.

Hazleton Area 68, Berwick 30

The Cougars won their fifth in a row, posting a road victory at winless Berwick.

Da’Mir Faison scored 14 points and Andrew Vayda added 11 for Hazleton Area, which had 10 players figure in the scoring.

Zach Evans once again paced Berwick with a game-high 17 points.

Coughlin 61, Wyoming Area 34

Brandon Hall scored 16, Aaron Bennett added 13 and Tony Egidio added 11 as Coughlin routed Wyoming Area. The trio allowed the Crusaders to take a 26-14 lead into halftime.

Dan Wiedl scored 10 for Wyoming Area.

Wyoming Seminary 68, Lake-Lehman 41

The Blue Knights jumped to a big lead at halftime on the way to defeating Lake-Lehman.

Dimitri Gnall paced Seminary with 20 points followed by Jake Koretz with 13 and Jeremy Callahan with 10.

Max Paczewski led Lehman with 16. Neil D0ugherty added 10.

Hanover Area 58, MMI Prep 54 OT

Asad Whitehead scored all nine of his team’s points in overtime as Hanover Area edged MMI Prep.

Whitehead finished with a game-high 27 points. Justin Kopko added 12.

Matt Marchetti scored 19 to pace MMI. Keefer Hoover had 11 while Marcus Kassick and Mason Marchetti added 10 each.

Holy Redeemer 65, Northwest 47

Justice Shoats scored 24 points as Holy Redeemer picked up a win at home.

Collin Cook and Nick Prociak each finished with 13 points and nine rebounds for the Royals.

Walker Yaple scored 15 and Sam Saxe netted 14 for Northwest.

Pittston Area 60, Tunkhannock 50

Logan Booth scored 22 points, Mike George had 15 and Brennan Higgins added 10 as Pittston Area held off Tunkhannock.

Jack Chilson scored 17 to pace Tunkhannock. Tyler Faux scored 11.

BOYS SWIMMING

Hazleton Area 93, Williamsport 89

The 400 free relay team of Antonio Dauite, Brandon DaGrossa, Ryan Kovalick and Anthony Goulstone won the final race and, along with a third-place finish in the event, Hazleton Area was able to rally for a non-conference victory.

Goustone added individual wins in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke. Daiute won the 200 free and Kovalick won the 500 free. Paul Flower swam to first place in the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke.

GIRLS SWIMMING

Williamsport 113, Hazleton Area 70

Williamsport won all 12 events on the way to the win.

Hazleton Area received second-place finishes from Marina O’Hara (500 free, 100 back), Abigail Goulstone (200 free) and Maggie Yannes (500 free).
