The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins dropped their second straight game after falling to the rival Hershey Bears, 1-0, in overtime on Tuesday.

Garret Pilon scored the game’s lone goal, on a nice set up during the 3-on-3 overtime.

Mike Sgarbossa drifted into the zone with Pilon on his right. Sgarbossa gave Pilon a touch pass to the top of the circle, to the right of Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry. Pilon ripped a shot to top corner of the net that evaded the glove of Jarry, sending Wilkes-Barre/Scranton home empty-handed.

Jarry made 38 saves in a stellar performance but the Pens failed to get the offense going. He made 15 of his 38 saves in the third period, when the Bears did whatever they could to throw as many pucks at the net as possible.

On the offensive end, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton had just 17 shots on the game. The Penguins had some good chances in the first period, but Hershey took control in the second and third frames.

The Penguins best offensive chance arguably came when Hershey’s Tyler Lewington misplayed the puck on the offensive blue line.

Ryan Haggerty picked up the lose puck and was off to the races. One-on-one with the Hershey net minder Vitek Vanecek, Haggerty took his shot, low glove side. Vanecek got a piece of the shot and it slowly drifted wide of the net, keeping the game scoreless and denying the Pens on their best scoring chance of the game.
