Pittston Area slammed four home runs, including two by Gabby Para, as the Patriots earned a 13-7 victory over Dallas in Wyoming Valley Conference softball play on Saturday.

Para and Morgan Mesaris both homered in the top of the first to give the Patriots a quick 5-0 lead while Madisyn Antal added her own later to help keep her team in front despite a late Dallas rally.

Antal, Lexi Felinski (two doubles) and Alexa McHugh all had three hits apiece in the win. McHugh earned the win, striking out nine.

Christina Schappert led the Mountaineers, finishing 4-for-5 with two doubles, a triple and four RBI. Gianna Spaciano tripled and drove in two runs.

Tunkhannock 7, Stroudsburg 2

The Tigers hosted a Class 6A non-conference opponent and got a one-hitter from Hope Jones and Kendra Schultz in a decisive victory.

Jones’ big day included a 4-for-4 showing at the plate with two RBI while throwing four-innings of no-hit ball. Schultz went three innings and combined with Jones for nine strikeouts. Both runs against Jones were unearned.

Faith Jones added three hits with an RBI while Erin Dunn went 2-for-2 with a triple as the Tigers pounded out 15 hits.

BASEBALL

Berwick 7, Northwest 1

Three Bulldogs pitchers combined on a one-hitter, allowing zero earned runs. Starter Max Slusser struck out three for the win and was followed by Mark McCracken and Xander Shaffer.

Henry Novicki went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI while Mike Lombargo drove in three runs.

Kevin Boyer doubled for the Rangers’ lone hit.

BOYS LACROSSE

Bellefonte 12, Lake-Lehman 9

Zach Aben figured in on six goals for the Black Knights in a non-conference loss, scoring four times and assisting on two others.

Also scoring for Lehman were Jason Button, Nick Zaboski, Christian Diana and Marshall Woodrosky.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Juniata 3, Misericordia 0

The Cougars’ season came to an end in the semifinals of the ECAC Championships, falling 25-12, 25-11, 25-12.

Ryan Miller led the Cougars with eight kills while Matt Lavin added six. Jordan Spidle had a team-high 12 assists and Dylan Sellitti had nine. Conner Westerfield had five digs.

Misericordia finished its second season at 20-17.
