Jose Osuna singled in Kevin Kramer in the fifth inning as Indianapolis broke a tie score to defeat the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 6-5 on Wednesday.

The RailRiders fell to 18-16 with their second consecutive loss to the Indians.

SWB battled back from a 5-3 deficit, moving within a run on a home run by Brad Miller in the fourth inning. An inning later, newcomer Breyvic Valera launched a homer onto the berm in right field to tie the game 5-5.

That was the extent of the RailRiders’ offense and they manged just one hit — a bunt single by Tyler Wade — over the final four innings.

The RailRiders took a 1-0 lead in the first as Mike Ford led off with a walk and later scored on a groundout by Ryan Lavarnway. They added two more runs in the third on an RBI triple by Wade and an RBI single by Lavarnway.

The 3-2 lead didn’t last long as Indianapolis scored three times in the bottom of the third, with two coming on Trayvon Robinson’s home run to right field.

David Hale started for SWB, lasting three innings and allowing eight hits and five runs. The bullpen was strong in relief of Hale. Despite getting tagged with the loss, Rex Brothers fanned four batters over a season-high three innings. David Sosebee tossed the final two innings, retiring the sides in order.

Wade went 2-for-5 as the RailRiders were held to seven hits.

The RailRiders and Indians return to action Thursday morning with an 11:05 a.m. first pitch as SWB looks to avoid a series sweep. Righty Drew Hutchison (2-2, 6.75) takes the ball against Indianapolis righty Dario Agrazal (2-0, 1.25).
