Chase Binker, Cam Tarreto and Leo Nockley combined on a three-inning no-hitter for Plains in its 16-1 victory Tuesday in District 16 8-10 Baseball. The trio totaled nine strikeouts.

Nockey also added two hits, two RBI and three runs scored. Derrick Nah tripled and scored three times.

Mountain Top 15, Hanover 0

Jaxson Fedak and Grady Seltzer combined on the mound to pitch Mountain Top to a three-inning victory.

DISTRICT 31 8-10 BASEBALL

Greater Wyoming Area 16, Northwest 2

Cole Ricko was 3-for-3 with a double and three runs scored and Ben Rogish was 2-for-3 with four RBI in GWA’s four-inning victory.

Starting pitcher Mitchell Rusinchak pitched 3.2 innings with nine strikeouts and took a perfect game into the fourth. He also had a hit and scored three times. Aiden August added a pinch-hit two-run double. Zach Smith singled and scored three runs.

Max Voyton had Northwest’s only hit.

Back Mountain National 16, West Side 4

Jimmy Youngblood homered and finished with two hits and four RBI as Back Mountain National ended the game in four innings.

Chase Aten added two hits, four RBI and four runs. Cole Langdon had two hits and an RBI.

DISTRICT 16 SENIOR BASEBALL

Hanover 6, Pittston 5

Aidan Geisinger beat out an infield single in the seventh to knock in the winning run as Hanover won the opener of the best-of-three series.

The teams play again at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday at Pittston’s Avoca Flats field. A third game, if necessary, will be on Friday.

Todd Kolbicka and John Bush had two hits each for Hanover. Starter Gavin Isopi pitched 4.2 innings, allowing three hits and one run.

Aidan Slain had two hits and scored three runs for Pittston.

DISTRICT 16 9-11 BASEBALL

Mountain Top 18, Greater Pittston 8

Connor Wegman picked up the win on the mound and Zach and Chase Galella each scored three runs as Mountain Top defeated Greater Pittston.

Jaden Shedlock was 2 for 4 with a triple and two runs scored for Mountain Top.

DISTRICT 31 9-11 BASEBALL

Back Mountain National 15, Kingston/Forty Fort 2

Andrew Chapple had four hits and six RBI to pace National to a four-inning victory.

Brady Youngblood had two hits and two RBI. Colton Smith added two hits and an RBI.

Seth Kranson had two hits and and RBI for KFF.

Greater Wyoming Area 14, Back Mountain American 13

GWA scored seven runs in the fourth inning and then held off an American comeback bid for the victory.

Alex Vacula and Aiden Allardyce knocked in two runs each for GWA. Jacob Snyder, Connor Krakosky and Luke Kopetchny all had two hits. Snyder had a triple and Nicolas Ciampi doubled. Krakosky pitched four innings to pick up the win.

Will Sordoni paced American, going 4-for-5 with five RBI and three runs scored. Jacob Bryk was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI. Trevor Williams was 2-for-4 and scored twice. Guy Jordan had two RBI.

DISTRICT 16 MAJOR BASEBALL

Township 14, Hanover 0

Jake Aftewicz threw a shutout to lead Township past Hanover in four innings Monday. He went four innings, allowing two hits, striking out 11 and walking one.

Township secured the victory thanks to 10 runs in the second inning. Brycen Martin, Paul Jordan McGarry, Aftewicz, Ashton Lepore and Ryan Flaim all contributed in the big inning with RBI. Aftewicz homered in the inning. Martin, Elijah Barr and Aftewicz each had multiple hits for Township. Martin was 3-for-3.

Shawn Kreitzer had a double and Brendan Spry singled for Hanover’s only hits.

DISTRICT 31 MAJOR BASEBALL

Swoyersville 19, Back Mountain American 2

Dom Cavuto hit two homers and Kamau Ingram also homered as Swoyersville won in three innings on Monday.

AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL

Hazleton 13, WB/Plains 9

Aaron Mason was 3-f0r-5 with two RBI as Hazleton Area powered past Wilkes-Barre/Plains.

Lance Book was 2-f0r-3 wtih two RBI and Oliver Martinez knocked in two runs for Hazleton. Jatnk Diaz threw three innings of relief to pick up the win.

Wilkes-Barre/Plains’ Alex Sliker had a big game at the plate, going 3-for-5 with five RBI. Blake Bynon was 2-for-4 with three RBI.
