Former Wyoming Valley West standout lineman Chris Bleich has found a new home in college football as he announced Wednesday he will attend Syracuse.

Bleich started eight games at guard as a redshirt freshman for Florida this season, but left the program in early November.

“Two years ago I didn’t see me being in the circumstances that I am in, but I wasn’t able to control what happened in my situation,” Bleich said via Twitter. “Going through this decision all over again was the hardest thing for me mentally and physically. After praying on my decision and asking God for help he showed me where I was meant to be. Syracuse was my first offer in high school 6 years ago, I’m happy to say I’m part of the Syracuse football program. I want to thank Coach Babers and Coach Cavanaugh for giving me a second chance at this game I love. For that I will forever be thankful to them.”

The Post-Standard/Syracuse.com reported that Bleich plans to enroll in January and submit a waiver to the NCAA in hopes of being cleared to play next season.

Bleich was the Times Leader Player of the Year in 2017. He verbally committed to Penn State as a sophomore, but decided before his senior year to look at other college programs. He then verbally committed to UCLA, only to change his decision and join Florida.
