LA PLUME — Giorgio Butts posted a pair of wins for Keystone College April 1 in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) men’s tennis match against Marywood University, but it wasn’t enough as the Pacers defeated the Giants, 7-2, at the Murray Courts in La Plume.

Marywood levels their record at 1-1 on the season by winning their first conference match of the spring while Keystone slides to 0-5 (0-4 CSAC) on the season.

Butts Padilla and Maleik Torres scored an 8-6 victory over Gavin Coyne and Gianni Monteleone at No. 3 doubles, but the Pacers would hold a 2-1 edge after doubles’ action by taking the top two flights. Abington Heights graduate Mark Van Nort and Daniel Tintle scored an 8-1 decision over Michael Hull and Brian Toda at No. 1 doubles while Brendan Brown and Steven Garubba posted an 8-3 decision over John Masten and Dan Anderson at No. 2 doubles.

In singles’ action, Butts Padilla posted Keystone’s lone point by working past Monteleone in a tiebreaker, 5-7, 7-6 (7-5), 10-7 at the sixth flight. At the top pairing, Van Nort bested Hull, 6-3, 6-1 while Tintle notched a 6-0, 6-1 win over Toda at No. 2 singles. In the third flight, Brown defeated Masten, 6-1, 6-0 while Garubba notched a 6-3, 6-1 win over Torres at No. 4 singles. At No. 5 singles, Coyne downed past Anderson, 6-3, 6-4.
