Despres

A weekly look at how former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins are performing in the NHL:

Player: Simon Despres

Team: Anaheim Ducks

Played with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton: 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14

The former first-round pick was having a productive season in Pittsburgh – his first full year in the NHL, posting 17 points in 59 games until he was shipped to Anaheim at the trade deadline.

Now, while Pittsburgh found itself with only five defensemen due to injuries last week, Despres was busy getting back on track with his new club. In his first 13 games with the Ducks, Despres posted five assists. On Thursday, he found the back of the net, scoring his first goal with the Ducks in a 5-1 win over Edmonton.

On the year, Despres has 23 points in 73 games and is a plus-12 with 80 penalty minutes.
