WILLIAMSPORT — Williamsport standout Nassir Jones was dominant on both sides of the ball as the Millionaires defeated Dallas 48-0 Saturday afternoon to clinch the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 football title.

Besides causing havoc defensively along with defensive lineman Charles Crews, Jones caught touchdown passes of 24 and 72 yards from Frankie Marrone. Marrone later added an 11-yard touchdown pass to Keith Freeman to make it 35-0 and begin the mercy rule.

Backup quarterback George Whaley also connected with Nizir Washington on a 27-yard scoring strike. Beau Pearson finished off the scoring with a 6-yard run.

Williamsport finished 4-0 in the division and 6-1 overall. The Millionaires were scheduled to play Hazleton Area (3-1 Div. 1, 4-2) on Friday night, but that game was cancelled to allow Class 6A playoffs. Williamsport will face Altoona in the D4/6-6A championship game. Hazleton Area will play Delaware Valley for the D2-6A crown.

Dallas (3-2 Div. 1, 3-3) plays at Berwick on Friday night. The Mountaineers remain in second place in the D2-4A standings. The top two teams will play for the D2-4A championship Nov. 6 or 7.
