KINGSTON — Wyoming Seminary won the rubber match against Holy Redeemer in the District 2 Class A boys soccer quarterfinals winning 4-0 at Nesbitt Stadium on Thursday night.

Andrew Kim assisted on the first goal of the game and then scored three of his own as Wyoming Seminary shut out the Royals. In two previous matches this season, the visiting team was victorious.

Grayson Butcher picked up the first goal and Pumsu Park collected an assist for the Blue Knights.

Both teams recorded 10 shots on the night, but Wyoming Seminary goalie Kyle Hall was credited with the shutout.

Wyoming Seminary, the No. 2 seed, will next host Mt. View on Monday at 6 p.m.

Mt. View 3, Meyers 1

Mt. View scored three goals en route to a victory over Meyers. During the contest, Mt. View out shot the Mohawks 8-6 and held a 5-1 advantage in corners during Thursday’s District 2 Class A quarterfinal.

Johnny Torres scored the only goal of the night for Meyers off of a penalty kick. Goalie David Torres made five saves for Meyers during the game.

The No. 11 seed Mohawks, who pulled off an upset for the second straight season in the first round, were tied with the third-seeded Eagles until Justin Rowe scored with less than 15 minutes remaining in the game.

Wyoming Valley West 5, Scranton 1

Despite Scranton scoring first, Mike Bazadona scored two goals in the first half and Mitch Forgash, Jake Gurtis and Charlie Keefer all found the back of the net in the second half to give Wyoming Valley West the victory.

The Spartans outshot Scranton 26-5 and goalie Davis Weaver made a single save to help secure the win.

Second-seeded Wyoming Valley West will move on to the semifinal and host Abington Heights on Tuesday night at 7.

Williamsport 5, Pittston Area 0

The top-seeded Millionaires stayed unbeaten at 14-0 to end the Patriots’ season in the District 2 Class 3A quarterfinals.

Five different players scored for Williamsport with Kolachi Pombor, Terrance Massey-Porter, Terrance Hillman, Dylan Confair and Tom Pombor all striking the net.

The Millionaires will play fifth-seeded Wallenpaupack in Tuesday night’s semifinal. The Buckhorns upset No. 4 seed Delaware Valley, 2-1 on Thursday.

Dallas 2, North Pocono 1

The No. 6 seed Mountaineers stayed hot remaining unbeaten in their last 12 matches with an upset win over the third-seeded Trojans as Christian Kimmerle and Ricky Wooditch accounted for Dallas’ goals.

Dallas advances to the semifinals on Tuesday and will play the winner of Friday’s quarterfinal between Tunkhannock and Coughlin.

The No. 7 Tigers and the second-seeded Crusaders were slated to play on Thursday, but the match was pushed to Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Wyoming Valley West’s Spartan Stadium.

Valley View 2, Scranton Prep 1

The biggest upset of the District 2 boys tournament occurred on Thursday when the ninth-seeded Cougars took out previously undefeated Cavaliers, the No. 1 seed in the Class 2A quarterfinals.
