After 16 games, there still isn’t a clear leader coming from the Wyoming Valley Conference in District 2 2A boys soccer tournament.

At regular season’s end, both Wyoming Seminary and Holy Redeemer finished with 13-1-2 records — thanks to a late-season 0-0 tie this past Tuesday — and will face off in a playoff game Monday at Lake-Lehman at 4:15 p.m. to determine the No. 3 seed in the upcoming District 2 2A tournament.

The third seed will have a home game against the No. 14 seed, Western Wayne. The loser of Monday’s game will earn the No. 4 seed and a home game against No. 13 Carbondale.

“Wyoming Seminary is a very strong team, we all know that — very talented,” Holy Redeemer head coach Michael Davitt said. “We’ve proven that we’ve played with them. They’re the two-time district champs, and deserving so. I think you’re going to see more of the same and basically it’s going to be a great game.”

Blue Ridge has earned the class’ top seed, followed by Scranton Prep as the No. 2 seed. Blue Ridge will host Hanover Area Monday at 3:30 p.m, while Scranton Prep will host Berwick on Monday at 3:45 p.m.

Class 2A features a talented bracket with a District 2-high six teams with double-digit wins, including Wyoming Seminary, Holy Redeemer, Lake-Lehman and Meyers. With a top-heavy bracket, the 2A tournament is wide-open this fall.

Class 4A

After finishing the regular season with an 8-4 record, Williamsport has earned the top seed in the District 2 4A four-team bracket.

The Millionaires will host Hazleton Area at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Delaware Valley hosts Scranton on Tuesday at 4:15 p.m. on the other side of the bracket.

The winner will play for the championship on Nov. 2.

Class 3A

No. 7 Crestwood embarks on its postseason journey against Honesdale on Monday at home.

However, the Comets will start the postseason with a new captain leading the ship.

After playing their last four games with different head coaches — after the termination of former head coach Michael Stephennson’s contract on Oct. 7 — the Comets will be led by Patrick Upton for the remainder of the year and next season.

The new head coach was approved by the school board Thursday night. Matthew Zampetti will serve as the team’s assistant coach.

Abington Heights earned the top seed of the Class 3A bracket and awaits the winner of Monday’s No. 8 Coughlin vs. No. 9 Valley View matchup.

Tunkhannock is the second seed, followed by Wallenpaupack and Dallas. The Mountaineers will host the winner of No. 5 Wyoming Valley West and No. 12 Pittston Area on Oct. 26.

Class A

Forest City earned the top seed and awaits the winner of No. 5 Mt. View at No. 4 Holy Cross for a Oct. 26 semifinals matchup.

On the other side of the bracket, No. 2 Old Forge awaits the winner of No. 6 MMI Prep at No. 3 Elk Lake. The Devils will host the No. 3/No. 6 winner on Oct. 26.
