JACOB URBAN

School: Wyoming Area

Year: Junior

Sport, position: Ice hockey, goalie

Family: Amber, mom; Jon, dad

Last week: In last Friday’s championship of the Casey Classic, the junior netminder returned to the ice after a month off due to illness and stopped 43 shots in Wyoming Area’s 6-1 win over Crestwood.

The Comets threw 42 shots Urban’s way, and just one — in the final seconds of the third period — got past the Warriors’ goalie on the way to the big win.

What he says: “I was just taking care of my body when I was sick with mono. … At the game, I was just trying to get my feet under me. Right in the first period I had a good feeling for the game and everything just got underway. I just went on from there.”

Coach says: “He played phenomenal. … Coming off mono and not playing in a month is just phenomenal. … Crestwood is a fantastic team. Coming back cold and playing that well was above and beyond what I expected.” — Wyoming Area ice hockey coach Bill Weiss
