What she says: “It was definitely nerve-racking. The team definitely wanted to win, but we definitely wanted to have fun playing too. We wanted to go out with the right mindset of winning and that’s what we did. … I remember one of my teammates, Kennadi Josefowicz, sent the pass, it deflected off a Dallas defender and came right to me. I hit it one time with my left foot. I saw it go in and my whole team attacked me.”

DAVIS WEAVER
School: Wyoming Valley West
Year: Senior
Sport, position: Boys soccer, goalie
Family: Beth, mom
Last week: Weaver had four saves in Valley West’s 3-0 win over Crestwood on Tuesday. … In a matchup against Dallas on Thursday night, Weaver finished with six saves as the Spartans recorded their fourth straight shutout of the season in a 2-0 win over Mountaineers.
What he says: “It’s definitely going to be a game we can look back on. … If we ever struggle in the future, we can look back on how well we played against Dallas. … We have a really strong defense. Without the defense, shots can come in from anywhere and it becomes hard to keep a shut out going. Without a doubt, (the defense) makes my job easier.”
Coach says: “I think the key (has been) playing great defense and having a goalie who is right on top of things and making big plays and keeping us in games. We’re finding a way to win. We have several stars on defense. Jake Gurtis, Kevin Gordzki, Mitch Forgash and Josh Payne are four guys keeping our defense together. Klaus Nemetz a foreign exchange student has been great coming from Germany.”
