Tunkhannock grad Mike Papi is red-hot coming into the final weekend of Triple-A Columbus’ season.

The outfielder has picked up a pair of hits and at least an RBI in each of the last three games, prior to Saturday’s tilt against Louisville. Batting fifth for the Clippers on Friday, Papi singled twice, walked once, scored a run and had three RBI.

Papi sports a .361 batting average in his last 10 games with a home run, five walks, eight runs scored and seven RBI.

Matt Wotherspoon

The Crestwood grad continued his shutout streak on Thursday.

Wotherspoon pitched 2.1 innings of two-hit baseball while striking out a pair for Triple-A Norfolk. He didn’t factor into the decision.

The Pitt alum hasn’t allowed an earned run since Aug. 8, and has lowered his ERA to 2.13.

Tony Hernandez

The Hazleton Area alum took the win for the Gulf Coast League Yankees East on Thursday, pitching six shutout innings.

He only allowed two hits and a walk while striking out three in the 5-0 win.

Sal Biasi

The Hazleton Area grad won his second game in his last three starts on Wednesday.

Biasi pitched five innings of shutout baseball for Rookie-level Burlington. He allowed four hits and a walk while striking out six.

Biasi has a 3-2 record and 2.64 ERA in his last 10 outings.

Jhordany Mezquita

The former Hazleton Area student posted his third straight shutout and second straight victory for the GCL Phillies.

Mezquita pitched five innings of four-hit baseball.

The 19-year-old is 3-0 with an 0.72 ERA this season.
