Penn State’s latest addition to its 2024 recruiting class is also the largest.

For the second straight day, the Nittany Lions landed an offensive line target as 6-foot-8 North Carolina native Eagan Boyer publicly committed to Penn State. He follows Garrett Sexton, a 6-6 fellow tackle prosect from Wisconsin, who pledged Monday.

Boyer is a three-star prospect who is rising in the ranks because of his frame, which has plenty of room to fill out at 260 pounds, as he adjusts to playing offensive line. The Charlotte-area prospect from Amos Hough High School picked Penn State over offers from Auburn, Clemson and Tennessee, among others.

The Lions’ offensive line class is quickly filling up, as Boyer, Sexton and Donovan Harbor have all come on board in the past week, joining long-time commit Cooper Cousins. Another recent addition, Caleb Brewer, could end up playing on the defensive line or offensive line.

Boyer is the eighth new commitment for Penn State this month, seven of whom will be seniors in the fall and can sign with the Lions in December.

Penn State’s 2024 class is now up to 12 total recruits and ranks No. 10 nationally in the On3 Industry Ranking.

NEW VOICE

Games at Beaver Stadium will sound a little different this fall.

Long-time public address announcer Dean DeVore is no longer employed by Penn State Athletics, according to the university, which didn’t offer further details because it was a personnel matter.

DK Pittsburgh Sports first reported the move, which could be one of several changes to the gameday experience now that athletic director Pat Kraft and his staff have had a year to evaluate things.

DeVore worked this month’s Blue-White Game and had been in the role since 2000.
