WILKES-BARRE — The Luzerne County Corner’s Office has identified the 18-year-old male shot on North Pennsylvania Avenue late Friday.

Jacob T. Shedlock was pronounced dead at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital at 11:20 p.m. Friday, according to county Coroner William Lisman.

An autopsy on the Laurel Run teen is scheduled for Monday.

City police are investigating the shooting as a homicide.

Shedlock was shot one time in the torso, officers reported.

According to a press release on the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department’s Facebook page:

Police responded to 768 N. Pennsylvania Ave. in reference to a shooting at approximately 10:57 p.m.

When police arrived, they found a white male with a gunshot wound.

A short time after his arrival at the hospital, the victim was pronounced dead by the Luzerne County Coroner’s Office.

Police ask anyone with information surrounding the shooting to contact the Wilkes-Barre Detective Division and speak to Det. Stash at 570-208-4224 or Det. Harding at 570-208-0911.

Chief Joseph Coffay told a Times Leader reporter that city detectives are working on the case with Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office detectives.

Police have not yet named any suspects.

Officers were dispatched to an area of North Pennsylvania near Dukey’s Cafe and behind the Lion Brewery.

At 11:55 p.m., six city cruisers were still at the scene and police tape was stretched across the front of three houses.

One officer was heard asking another if he needed gloves as he entered a residence.

Just after that, a policeman warned a reporter that dogs would be taken out of one of the homes.
