The local average gas price held steady overnight, but the state and national averages continued to rise.

AAA Mid-Atlantic provided the following data for today’s average gas prices:

• Wilkes-Barre area gas average at $2.72 today, unchanged overnight and up 8 cents in the last week. Diesel at $3.19 today, unchanged overnight.

• Pennsylvania gas average at $2.74 today, up 2 cents overnight and up 10 cents in the last week. Diesel at $3.22 today, unchanged overnight.

• National gas average at $2.56 today, up a penny overnight, up 8 cents in the last week. Diesel at $2.81 today, unchanged overnight.
