The Huber Breaker was a landmark in the Wyoming Valley. It was both a reminder of our industrial past as well as the struggles many faced living in the coal region.

With the breaker torn down and its metal hauled away for scrap, now is the time to ask ourselves if we are letting go of our historical past too easily. While other cities are cherishing their landmarks, we are destroying ours.

This is why it is crucial for those people who care about our history to support groups such as the Huber Breaker Preservation Society and the work it does to help preserve the Huber site.

While many people believe that we should leave the past behind us, the past serves as a reminder of all that we can accomplish.
