CONYNGHAM: Conyngham United Methodist Church, 411 Main St., is offering lunch at a small cost with a guest speaker at noon every Wednesday during Lent. The menu includes soup, beverage and dessert for $3. If schools are closed due to weather, lunch will be cancelled. You do not have to be a member of Conyngham United Methodist Church to participate.

Speakers include the Rev. Phil Smith, Emmanuel Church; Pastor Debra Hebron, St. Paul United Methodist Church; Pastor Carolyn Hetrick, Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church; Lay Pastor Cheryl Trent, Conyngham United Methodist Church; Pastor Chip Fairchild; Pastor Joe Healey, Blakeslee United Methodist Church.

LAFLIN: The Feast of Divine Mercy will be held on Sunday, April 12, at St. Maria Goretti Parish, Laflin Road. The year’s celebrant is the Rev. Monsignor Neil J. Van Loon, pastor, St. Maria Goretti Parish. The con celebrant and homilist will be the Rev. Richard J. Cirba, assistant pastor, St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, West Division Street, Wilkes-Barre.

This year’s theme will focus on the role of St. Faustina as the vessel of the message of Divine Mercy, where Jesus poured out his love and mercy on the cross. In this year of Consecrated Life, St. Faustina will be honored on the 15th anniversary of her canonization. Prayers will also be offered for all those who dedicate their lives to Christ and his church.

Cathy Mack, coordinator and Cenacle Leader of Divine Mercy, will give remarks prior to the service.

The itinerary includes: 1 p.m., Sacrament of Reconciliation with seven priests; 2 p.m., veneration of the image followed by Mass; 3 p.m., exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Chaplet of Divine Mercy in song, rosary, benediction and the individual blessing of the first class relic of St. Faustina.

PLAINS TWP.: The Womens Society of SS. Peter and Paul Church is planning a trip on April 15 to visit the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in New York City. There will be free time after the museum visit. The cost is $65. Meals not included. For more information contact Joan Pisack at 570-822-3815.

WILKES-BARRE: The Ohav Zedek’s Sisterhood is sponsoring Shabbat Across America, a national Jewish outreach program, on Friday, March 13. A user-friendly, Carlebach-style musical Shabbat service will take place at 6 p.m. A catered Sabbath dinner will follow the services at 7 p.m. Dinner prices are $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and younger. WYOMING VALLEY: Members of Church Women United (CWU) of Wyoming Valley are reminded that lap robes to be donated at the annual Interfaith Tea on May 17 at Shavertown United Methodist Church should be started as soon as possible. The robes will be donated to various nursing facilities and shut ins.

The Rev. Barbara Saxe, chairperson for the CWU Easter baskets, announced that containers may be delivered between 10 a.m. and noon on Monday, March 23, and Wednesday, March 25, to Dorranceton United Methodist Church, 549 Wyoming Ave., Kingston. Diabetic baskets should be marked. Do not include nuts or hard-boiled eggs. If baskets are delivered directly to the nursing homes or shut ins, participants should contact the Rev.
