SCRANTON – Old Forge suffered through an awful shooting night Friday and was eliminated from the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class A boys basketball playoffs in the first round with a 63-57 loss to Meadowbrook Christian at the Lackawanna College Student Union.

The Blue Devils missed all 17 of their 3-point attempts in the game while losing to the District 4 runner-ups, who were playing in a state tournament game for the first time since joining the PIAA in 2002.

A.J. Cantarella scored 29 points and grabbed 20 rebounds, 11 on the offensive end, to lead Old Forge. The rest of the Blue Devils, however, shot a combined 13-for-48.

Joey Gutkowski added 17 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

Old Forge had a 52-26 rebounding advantage but never led after the first quarter.

Austin Schott hit six 3-pointers to lead the Lions with 29 points and five steals. He hit a 28-footer at the third-quarter buzzer and two more 3s in the final 2:23.
