PITTSTON: Pittston Area High School is hosting Curriculum Night for eighth-grade students entering the high school in the 2015-16 school year and also any parochial and private school new registration students. Curriculum Night will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, in the high school auditorium. Snow date is Thursday, March 5.

Students will be selecting their courses from the programs of study for the 2015-16 school year. The presentation will discuss the programs of study, registration for transferring students and Keystone exams. Guidance counselors, department chairs and administrators will be available to answer any questions regarding course selections and the Keystone exams.

Students and parents are reminded to bring a pen or pencil to complete the course selection form. The completed forms will be returned to the guidance counselors before the end of the program. Registration packets will be available for transfer students and their parents or guardians to take home to complete. They should be returned to the high school Guidance Office as soon as possible to complete enrollment.

TUNKHANNOCK: Students from Lackawanna, Luzerne, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming counties will be participating in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 9 StringFest, a one-day string festival, on March 5 at the Tunkhannock Middle School. This year the festival is hosted by Betsy Sprout. A concert will be held at 7 p.m. and it is open to the public. Cost is $3 for adults and $1 for students and seniors.
