SHAVERTOWN — Shavertown resident, Michele Geiser, artist and owner of Bepa Studio, recently learned that one of her works is being showcased at the Careggi Hospital in Florence, Italy.
Geiser’s work was accepted by the Foundation for Photo/Art in Hospitals, which places framed photographs of nature to comfort patients. Geiser’s featured piece, “Delicate Friends,” was taken in a perennial garden in Wilkes-Barre.
The photographs are intended to provide color and an atmosphere of compassion where healing is encouraged. According to The Healing Power of Art and Artists, the Foundation for Photo/Art, founded by photographer Elaine Poggi, has placed more than 5,000 nature photos in more than 300 healthcare facilities on seven continents. This is Geiser’s third work selected by the Foundation, with two others displayed at hospitals in Texas and Rhode Island.
