Delaware Valley 25-13, 25-12, 25-14 defeated Tunkhannock in straight sets in a boys volleyball game on Tuesday.
Alex Clark finished with one ace and four assists, Max Hardy chipped in with one ace, two digs and two kills and Shane Straley made 12 digs for the Tigers.
Delaware Valley’s Rafael Alexandre had eight kills and two blocks in the win.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Wyoming Seminary 14, Scranton Prep 2
Alexis Quick scored four goals and Kate Romanowski added three goals and two assists in the Blue Knights win on Monday.
Crestwood 25, Pittston Area 3
Daniella Callaghan scored nine goals and dished out two assists as Crestwood cruised past the Patriots on Monday.
Lizzy Dessoye finished with seven goals and two assists, while Hannah Ackers scored four goals and Abby Zaleppa made 10 saves for the Comets.
Haley Norwillo scored two goals for Pittston Area.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
Wilkes 21, Wells 5
The Wilkes University women’s lacrosse team raced out to a 16-3 lead at halftime and never looked back extending its win streak to seven games after posting a 21-5 victory against Wells College at Higgins Stadium on the campus of Ithaca College on Tuesday afternoon.
Wilkes improves to 8-1 overall.
The Colonels scored the games’ first three goals before Wells answer with one strike to cut into the advantage at 3-1 with 26:01 left in the first half. From there, Wilkes rattled off 13 straight goals including four from Madeleine Brownsey and three from Tori Kerr to take its decisive advantage to the break.
Five more Wilkes goals to start the second half put the game out of reach. It also marked the seventh straight contest that Wilkes has scored at least 18 goals on offense.
Brownsey posted a team-high six goals and one assist while Kerr added four goals on four shots.
MEN’S TENNIS
King’s 9, Bible Baptist 0
The King’s College men’s tennis team won all six single matches and three doubles matches to defeat Baptist Bible on Tuesday at the Birchwood Tennis Club in Clarks Summit.
With the win King’s improves to 6-5.
Stephen Brand, George Parkhurst, Nathan Carl, Tyler Ryman, and Ryan Hegarty were all winners in singles and doubles for the Monarchs. Parkhurst and Carl teamed up at number-one doubles for an 8-4 win while Brand and Ryman teamed at number-two doubles for an 8-0 victory. Hegarty teamed with John Labiak at number-three doubles to pick up an 8-0 victory.
BASEBALL
MU moves up baseball rankings
The Misericordia University baseball team (10-1, 1-0 Freedom Conference) jumped four spots to No. 13 in the latest D3Baseball.com poll and moved up three spots to No. 22 in the American Baseball Coaches Association poll.
The Cougars went 2-0 last week, including a 13-3 victory at Arcadia and then a 5-1 win over FDU-Florham in their Freedom Conference opener.
MU’s pitching staff currently leads the nation with a team earned run average of just 1.67 while the Cougars’ defense is currently second in the nation with a .981 team fielding percentage. MU is also among nation’s best in on-base-percentage (.450) and WHIP (1.07).
